Pleased to see the full release of the latest Gangster Doodles curated extravaganza. The infamous cartoonist has selected a wealth of talented types for the project, with MCs and producers from both sides of the Atlantic, and from all walks of rap life, rubbing shoulders on the tracklist. The compilation weighs in at 28 tracks, so a track by track breakdown would be too much, but to give you a decent overview, there are cuts from the likes of Black Milk, Zeroh, Ohbliv, Gaslamp Killer, King Kashmere, Lil B and Lord Apex, to name a very select few. You can hear a selection of tracks below, with downloads and physicals available via Bandcamp.Continue reading “Gangster Doodles: Gangster Music Vol.2 (Stream)”
Good news from the world of Gangster Doodles, as he announces the upcoming release of the second installment from his Gangster Music compilation series. Two and a half years after the release of the first volume, the Toronto artist is now blessing us with another handpicked selection of tracks which span the rap world – 28 in total!!
You can hear a taster below, in the form of Champion by Mike G and Lil B, with the rest of the album boasting material from the likes of Open Mike Eagle, Black Milk, Lord Apex, Zeroh and King Kashmere, to name but a few. Pre-orders for the Gangster Music Vol.2 are available now, as well as a whole bunch of different bundle options. Check the Bandcamp page for more information. The album is set for release on 15 October.
Yesterday was a good day to be a rap fan, as we were blessed with the arrival of three very strong albums from across the board. One of those was the reunion album from L’Orange and Jeremiah Jae, as they returned to the studio to build on the successful foundations of their 2015 offering, The Night Took Us In Like Family.
New music from the always intriguing Long Beach artist, Zeroh, as he sets his sights on a solo LP release in 2020. Zeroh first came on to my radar thanks to his verses on some of those early Jonwayne tapes, as well as an excellent contribution to Metabeats’ stunning Caviar Crackle LP. You might have also caught his recent feature on the second single from the forthcoming album from L’Orange and Jeremiah Jae. On Bang Babies we get to hear what appears on first listen to be a very relaxed Zeroh, as his bars meander over some stripped back production, but on closer inspection the intricacies of his rhyme schemes become ever more apparent. Bang Babies can be heard in full below and keep an eye out for more news on the album coming soon. Continue reading “Zeroh: Bang Babies”
Another chapter from the upcoming L’Orange and Jeremiah Jae album has been revealed, in the form of Borrowed Brass. This time round they are joined by the always on point, Zeroh, as well as Philadelphia rapper, Lojii. You can stream the track below and free downloads are available over on Bandcamp. Wayniac Monday continues with this, the sixth offering and possibly my favourite so far. World Championship Karate Champion is produced by Jonwayne and features a couple of dope verses from Quelle Chris and Zeroh. Spread the word.
This month sees the release of arguably one of the most anticipated albums of the past several months. Caviar Crackle is the latest brain child from Welsh producer Metabeats and is the perfect showcase for why he is one of the freshest talents at work in recent years. This is the latest mixtape from Jonwayne, the American producer/rapper who has been dropping these little gems on us for the past couple of years. Continue reading “Jonwayne “This is False””
