There is now an official video for the latest single from Confucius MC. The track was released a few weeks ago, alongside a lyric video, but now the YNR MC has returned with a suitably slick video, shot in the lantern laden streets of London’s Chinatown. The track is produced by Keor Meteor and Jehst, and also features verses from Sonnyjim, Verbz and Jehst. The video was made by Bee Graphics.
New music from Confucius MC as he kicks off 2021 proceedings with a fresh banger. Lanterns brings a bit of light to the early year blues, thanks to a lyrical extravaganza involving four top tier rappers. As well as the man himself, there are also contributions from SonnyJim, Verbz and Jehst, raising the bar early for 2021 in the process. The track is produced by Keor Meteor and the lyric video was made by Bee Graphics. Streams are also available.
Good to hear Confucius MC back at it, as he releases his latest single. WW is heavily inspired by the world of wrestling entertainment, which has seen a growing presence in rap, thanks to the likes of Westside Gunn and his seemingly endless referencing. The focus is on the fact that while things in the game might not appear to be real, the pain is definitely genuine. Production on the track comes from California-based producer, Wann Sklobi. WW is out now on YNR Productions.
Jehst keeps the loosies coming, as he releases a new single in honour of the day’s festivities. 420 Every Day is a thinking man’s weed anthem, aided in its appeal by some punchy horns-laced production from north of the border’s finest. Jaisu. You can stream the track below, with downloads up on the YNR Bandcamp. Continue reading “Jehst: 420 Every Day”
Jehst’s pen game is maintaining its health in these uncertain times, as demonstrated on this new single which saw its release today. Wild Herb is co-produced by Jehst and Beat Butcha, who have a strong history of making bangers together, so it was always going to be a pleasure to hear them back at it. It’s perfect timing too, as Jehst’s UK tour kicked off last night in Manchester, before hitting Leeds tonight. Downloads of Wild Herb are also available. Continue reading “Jehst: Wild Herb”
New music from Confucius MC, as he hits us with his first single since the arrival of last year’s Old Paradice project, alongside Morriarchi. This latest track finds the YNR MC teaming up with another Blah affiliate, courtesy of the on-point production efforts of Sam Zircon, as Confucius urges us all to take a deeper look. Look Deeper is available to stream now on all the usual platforms. You can catch Confucius on tour with Jehst next month, with tickets available now. Continue reading “Confucius MC: Look Deeper”
Autumn Nights is the brand new single from UK hip hop veteran, Jehst, which emerged this week. The track is produced by Keor Meteor and also features a guest spot from regular Jehst collaborator, Confucius MC. Upcoming tour dates have also been announced, which hopefully means that a new Jehst project is on the horizon. You can listen to the full track below.
Good to see the release of a new video from Billy Green is Dead, Jehst’s most recent album. This time round it’s the self-produced Billy Green’s Theme, which features another great animated accompaniment from Monsta Animation. Jehst embarks on his UK tour this week, alongside Confucius MC and Pitch 92, as well as a live band. They kick off in Bristol tomorrow night. Billy Green is Dead is out now on YNR Productions.
Striking visuals from Jehst as he brings us the latest video from his Billy Green is Dead LP. Smoke Screen is one of more the soulful tracks from the album, thanks in part to the vocal contributions of the enigmatic yet familiar, Ennio Lion. Mr Thing is also on hand for the cuts. The track was co-produced by Jehst and Beat Butcha. The clown action comes courtesy of Mimbo and the video was made in association with Paragon Pictures. Billy Green is Dead is out now on YNR Productions.
An old interview I did with Jehst back in 2007, making it one of the first interviews I ever did. It’s quite good though, the cringing moments are minimal. I thought it was gone for good, but found a random cache of stuff archived online. It was originally on the now defunct site, style43.com I should have a more up to date one with him coming this year, so stay tuned for that. Shouts to YNR. Continue reading “Jehst: 2007 Interview”
