New video from Ghostface Killah, as he blesses us with the first instalment from his upcoming solo album. Conditioning is a mini heist movie, which sees Starks smeared in black and white face make-up, Dead Presidents style. This is the first in a series of three videos, so stay tuned for more GFK action coming soon. Conditioning is produced by Danny Caiazzo. The album, Ghostfaces, is due for release in August.
Lunar C channels the spirit of Dirt McGirt in this exceedingly Northern homage to the Wu-Tang MC’s classic, Shimmy Shimmy Ya. The video was made by Kill Money.
Ghostface enlists some heavy-hitters for the next single from his upcoming project, The Lost Tapes. Benny The Butcher, KXNG Crooked and 38 Spesh join the Wu veteran on Buckingham Palace, with album producer Big Ghost Ltd. delivering a suitably triumphant drum-heavy beat. The Lost Tapes is due for release on 5 October and you can find more info about that here. Buckingham Palace is available to stream below. Continue reading “Ghostface Killah ft. Benny The Butcher, KXNG Crooked & 38 Spesh: Buckingham Palace”
If you are yet to find yourself enjoying the pleasures of the El Michels Affair and are wondering whether to believe the hype, let the video for Shaolin Brew be your deciding factor.
Taking on the Wu-Tang back in 2009 with Enter the 37th Chamber, El Michels came back this year with The Return to the 37th Chamber, featuring more of the same live musical interpretations of some of the most-loved RZA produced joints. Shaolin Brew was inspired by the incident at the B-Boy Summit ’99 event, which was upset by wrongly directed police interference. The album is available now on Big Crown Records.
New dope from The Odd Couple – aka Ray Vendetta and Tesla’s Ghost – as they drop their long awaited collaborative project. This Thing of Ours is itself a prelude to a full length LP, which is scheduled for release in 2018. They’ve drafted in Wu affiliate Falling Down to handle the production on both releases and you can hear why right from the opening track. The project weighs in at 10 tracks with both MCs bringing their A-game to the mic. You can stream This Thing of Ours below and there are free downloads available on Bandcamp. When one of my favourite MCs redoes one of my favourite tracks, it’s like the universe has aligned itself just for me. Zilla Rocca is arguably the biggest Ghostface fan I know and as a result, he is also the ideal candidate to take on the task of bringing his own slant to the classic Faster Blade joint. You can stream the track below and keep those ears and eyes peeled for his LP with Small Pro dropping soon. Continue reading “Zilla Rocca: Faster Blade Redux”
Great new video from French producer Wax Tailor, as he teams up with Ghostface on Worldwide. The video is made using stop motion animation, which I am always in awe of and it was shot by Mathieu Le Proux (Pig Up). The track is lifted from Tailor’s forthcoming album BY Any Beats Necessary, which drops on 14 October.
These are awesome. Wu-Tang album covers reinvented in the style of jazz label extraordinaire, Blue Note. The designer Logan Walters is the brains behind the project, which actually surfaced a while ago, but I’m obviously a bit slow on the uptake. I’ve posted a few of the pieces below, but if you want to check out the whole series, get over to the Roy Ayers Project. Continue reading “Wu-Tang Meets Blue Note”
