Juga-Naut & Micall Parknsun: Twelve Bricks

Another solid offering from Juga-Naut, as he reconnects with Micall Parknsun for Twelve Bricks. The success of their earlier Six Bricks EP prompted the duo to return to the lab and record a full-length. And we should all be thankful they did. Jugz has been sitting comfortably among the upper echelons of UK hip hop for a while now, so his partnership with a veteran as consistent as Parky makes a lot of sense, even more so when you hear the finished product. A nice variation in the beat selection helps to keep things interesting, especially when you make your way through the album for the umpteenth time in an attempt to collect every jewel that Juga-Naut is dropping. Some decent features too, with his fellow VVV gang stepping up to the plate on GAUDI-GANG, Tommy Nova and Scorz dropping in on The Juice, and Da Flyy Hooligan rounding things off on the album’s closer. You can experience the full thing for yourself below, with physicals also available.

Juga-Naut: Bon Vivant (Stream)

Pleased to see the arrival of Juga-Naut’s latest solo album, Bon Vivant. It rounds off another strong year for the Nottingham artist, following on from a string of solid collaborations, including his Purple Door project with SonnyJim, as well as his own Found Objects release back in February. Bon Vivant sees Jugz summoning the collective strength of a number of UK luminaries to assist with the project, including Joe Buhdha, Micall Parknsun and his fellow VVV brothers, Cappo and Vandal Savage. You can stream the album below and there are physicals/merch available via Bandcamp. Continue reading “Juga-Naut: Bon Vivant (Stream)”

Juga-Naut x SonnyJim: The Purple Door (Stream)

Pleased to see the arrival of the new album from Nottingham favourite, Juga-Naut. The Purple Door is produced in its entirety by SonnyJim, which in itself is a testament to Jugz’s popularity amongst fans and peers alike, as Sonny has been pretty vocal in the past about how few UK Mcs he holds in high regard. The album weighs in at 12 tracks and there are features from fellow VVV members, Vandal Savage and Cappo. You can stream the album below and physicals are available via EatGood Records. Apollo Brown ft. Juga-Naut, Vandal Savage & Cappo: Time’s Different

Was hyped to see this drop into my timeline last night. Apollo Brown is the first producer to be involved with a new series of releases in conjunction with Sydney-based label, Low Key Source. Across the Globe is going to see well-known producers collaborate with MCs and other vocalists from all over the world, including this gem featuring VVV’s finest. There is also a track featuring Jehst and Tyler Daley, which sounds like it will be worth our attention. You can stream Time’s Different below and pre-orders for the EP are available now. VVV: Polo Zeus

Check out the latest video from one of last year’s UK rap high points, as VVV unleash a fresh visual for Polo Zeus. Superbly retro feel to this one too, complete with a nod to Teletext, which is all the more welcome for an 80’s kid like me. Cappo, Juga-Naut and Vandal Savage are all formidable MCs in their own right, but something extra is added when they all get together on a track. Bozo Boyz is available to purchase now over on Bandcamp.

VVV: Bozo Boyz

VVV – Cappo, Juga-Naut, Vandal Savage – released their Bozo Boyz album a few weeks ago and it’s as accomplished and enjoyable as you would expect. A solid 17 tracks from the Nottingham trio, with enough quality drums, synths and effortless gold standard lyricism to warrant this ending up on some Best of 2017 lists. You can stream the album below and you can purchase it over on Bandcamp. Continue reading “VVV: Bozo Boyz”

VVV: Golden Axe

They say good crews come in threes. To be honest, I don’t think anyone says that, but they should do based solely on the fact that VVV exist.
The Nottingham trio, comprised of Cappo, Vandal Savage and Juga-Naut recently released an unsurprisingly strong mixtape, full of flaming nuggets of dope, including this beast, Golden Axe. Great concept for the video too. Continue reading “VVV: Golden Axe”
