Aver & Move 78: Housecat / Live From The Village (Stream)

Fantastic union of talent here, as The Natural Curriculum’s Aver teams up with self-described Berlin-based dystopian jazz band, Move 78, for two new singles. The group features a trio of exceptional musicians, including Doron Segal, who recently released his own jazz album on Village Live. As well as more traditional jazz themes, the two pieces also embrace the more modern art of sampling, thanks to Aver’s love (and skill) for the discipline. You can stream the two singles below and digital downloads are available on Bandcamp. Continue reading “Aver & Move 78: Housecat / Live From The Village (Stream)”

Doron Segal: The Addition Of Strangeness (Album Promo Mix)

The ever-reliable Village Live Records are just about to release their next album and this time it’s another healthy flex of their jazz muscles. The Addition Of Strangeness is the very accomplished debut from Israeli jazz pianist Doron Segal and arrives at the perfect time, as jazz continues through its recently revitalised renaissance period.
The album boasts a number of marvels and high-points, including a marvellous reworking of the Soundgarden classic, Black Hole Sun. As well as Doron’s own proficiency on the keys, he is also joined by Daniel Dor on drums and Tom Berkmann on bass. Pre-orders for The Addition Of Strangeness went live yesterday and the full release is scheduled for 8 February. You can hear a promo mix for the album below.
