New music from arguably one of the most consistent and hard-working artists of his generation, as Juga-Naut returns with what is purported to be his magnum opus. Time & Place is a weighty collection of 20 songs, each one forged in the fiercely independent fire that Jugz has been stoking for years. DIY artistry at its finest and deeply rooted in his hometown of Nottingham, as demonstrated by the album’s featurs, which include appearances from Cappo, Vandal Savage, Scorzayzee and Liam Bailey. Even the artwork is an original painting by local talent, Emily Catherine, resulting in a true celebration of the East Midlands cultural scene and its interlinked communities, as well as another flawless display of Juga-Naut’s all encompassing abilities in the studio. Time & Place is available to stream below, as well as plenty of other streaming and physical options offered over on the usual platforms.
Nottingham maintains its rep as a hotbed of rap talent, thanks to this new project from Vandal Savage and Claude Money. The VVV MC seems to have found an ideal match in the rising Nottingham beat-maker, as he weaves his way through an array of woozy jazz samples and solid drum loops, ably assisted by Juga-Naut and Sonnyjim along the way. You can hear the full album above and it’s also available on Spotify.
Never one to rest on his laurels, Juga-Naut returned to the fore yesterday with the release of his latest album, Bem. It follows on from his acclaimed collaboration last year with Giallo Point, and on this latest outing we find Jugz’s pen game reaching exactly the same dizzying heights as we heard on its predecessor. The Nottingham resident has long been favoured as an MC’s MC and with Bem it is easy to hear why, as the ease with which he delivers the most intricate bars is almost criminal. And his talents don’t stop there, as the majority of Bem is self-produced, with a couple of exceptions courtesy of the Beat Punisher himself, Stu Bangas. The more soulful side to the album is backed up with some nicely placed features, including Liam Bailey and Tyler Daley, as well as guest spots from Tommy Nova, Taja, Oliver Rees, and fellow VVV rapper, Vandal Savage. You can hear the album for yourself below and there are plenty of physical bundles available via Bandcamp. Plus it was Jugz’s birthday yesterday, so go and celebrate by buying some of his art. Another incredible album is released into the world today, as Juga-Naut and Giallo Point drop the rightly anticipated, Back To The Grill Again. Both artists have steadily climbed the ranks of recognition over the past few years and are now viewed by many as two of best in the UK. The argument for that recognition is very strong on this new album, with Jugz’s lyrical prowess seemingly more attuned than ever and Giallo providing the perfect accompaniment for him with each beat. It’s definitely one to satisfy the older generation, as you can guess from the opening lines of the blurb – “This album is best listened to on MiniDisc in Nottingham, wearing Air Max Uptempo’s while going to watch Space Jam the day it dropped at the Odeon 1997” – but I can see it easily enticing fresher faced fans too, thanks to the production values and the often luxurious lyrical content. Fine list of features too, with Milano Constantine, Scorzayzee, SmooVth, Napoleon Da Legend, Vandal Savage, and SonnyJim all on the assist. There are various physical and merch deals available over on Bandcamp and you can hear the album in full below. Continue reading “Juga-Naut & Giallo Point: Back To The Grill Again (Stream)”→
Vancouver’s favourite mixtape wizard, Chong Wizard, assembles a particularly strong line-up for his latest project. You can hear the full release below and downloads/physicals are available over on Bandcamp. Continue reading “Chong Wizard: The Soul Stone”→
Pleased to see the arrival of Juga-Naut’s latest solo album, Bon Vivant. It rounds off another strong year for the Nottingham artist, following on from a string of solid collaborations, including his Purple Door project with SonnyJim, as well as his own Found Objects release back in February. Bon Vivant sees Jugz summoning the collective strength of a number of UK luminaries to assist with the project, including Joe Buhdha, Micall Parknsun and his fellow VVV brothers, Cappo and Vandal Savage. You can stream the album below and there are physicals/merch available via Bandcamp. Continue reading “Juga-Naut: Bon Vivant (Stream)”→

Pleased to see the arrival of the first video from the recently released collaboration between Juga-Naut and SonnyJim. Neutral Leathers also features fellow VVV MC and Notts resident, Vandal Savage. The video was made by Allergic Films. The Purple Door is out now on EatGood Records.
Pleased to see the arrival of the new album from Nottingham favourite, Juga-Naut. The Purple Door is produced in its entirety by SonnyJim, which in itself is a testament to Jugz’s popularity amongst fans and peers alike, as Sonny has been pretty vocal in the past about how few UK Mcs he holds in high regard. The album weighs in at 12 tracks and there are features from fellow VVV members, Vandal Savage and Cappo. You can stream the album below and physicals are available via EatGood Records.
