Another solid offering from Juga-Naut, as he reconnects with Micall Parknsun for Twelve Bricks. The success of their earlier Six Bricks EP prompted the duo to return to the lab and record a full-length. And we should all be thankful they did. Jugz has been sitting comfortably among the upper echelons of UK hip hop for a while now, so his partnership with a veteran as consistent as Parky makes a lot of sense, even more so when you hear the finished product. A nice variation in the beat selection helps to keep things interesting, especially when you make your way through the album for the umpteenth time in an attempt to collect every jewel that Juga-Naut is dropping. Some decent features too, with his fellow VVV gang stepping up to the plate on GAUDI-GANG, Tommy Nova and Scorz dropping in on The Juice, and Da Flyy Hooligan rounding things off on the album’s closer. You can experience the full thing for yourself below, with physicals also available.
Verbz and Mr Slipz keep the hype building for their new album, with the release of their latest single. The Feeling is more of that straight up boom bap brilliance we have come to expect from the duo, accompanied by a typically slick video from Parallel Media. The album, Radio Waves, is due for release on 13 November via High Focus.
A glimpse at Wish Master through the ages, as the Bristol MC unveils his latest video, starring his past, present and potential future selves. Write Pages is the next song to be lifted from Wish’s most recent album, THE BULL, and features production from Van Dam. The album is out now via Official Recordings.
Important music from the Revorg camp, as Big Toast and 184 unite once more to stick it to the more morally challenged people of his benighted isle. This is England is the lead single from the album, and features a nice appearance from Breezy Lee, one of three from her on the full LP. The superbly titled, Who Shit In The Sandpit, is due for release on 23 October. The video for This is England was made by The Strange Neighbour.
Fliptrix is setting the stage for his forthcoming album, including two singles from the project which have already been given life. Now the High Focus CEO is back with the next chapter and this time it’s a local collab, as he brings in DEDW8 for the production. It’s a smart move, as it gives an edge that was lacking from the previous two offerings. More of this please. The album, Light Work, is available for pre-order now. The video was made by This & That Media.
New loosie from Ono Caponoe as he steps out of his intergalactic cat bubble for a hot minute to deliver this Funky Butterfly. The track is produced by 150Namez and the video was made by Onoe and Mikey Bharj. Funky Butterfly is out now on High Focus.
Pitch 92 is one of the collaboration kings, go check his 3rd Culture album for further proof. In the meantime though, get stuck into his latest single, which sees its release today and features yet another hefty guest list. Lord Apex, Jehst and Kiko Bun all bring their A game to the proceedings, with Pitch’s production verging into future funk & soul territory. The track is out now on High Focus and there is a limited 7″ vinyl edition available, which also includes Pitch’s previous single, Suttin’ In The Trunk.
Village Live continue their Live & Direct series with this newly polished gem from Kuartz. The Manchester producer is no stranger to the label, having already released a number of solid projects through them, and Vapour Rays carries on the same tradition. It’s also available to stream and download at the usual spots.
Brand new video from Verb T and Illinformed, as they continue to set the mood for their new album. It’s been five years since their first collaboration was brought into this world, an album which still sits proudly in both their back catalogues, leading to a lot of justified anticipation for their sophomore effort. The video for New Paths was made by Honey JD. No news on a release date yet, but stay tuned.
D’Lyfa Reilly is the latest MC to join forces with Village Live Records, as the label gears up to release his new album. It’s produced in its entirety by fellow label mate, Aver, which is always a good sign, and as you can hear from the lead single, they have got a good thing going. Extra poignancy too, as this was the last album that was overseen by the late Joey Deez, who was a co-founder of Village Live alongside Doug aka Remulak. The video for Out of Darkness was made by Tarnish Vision. Time & Tide is due for release in the coming months, so more news on that soon.
