Juga-Naut: Bem (Stream)

Never one to rest on his laurels, Juga-Naut returned to the fore yesterday with the release of his latest album, Bem. It follows on from his acclaimed collaboration last year with Giallo Point, and on this latest outing we find Jugz’s pen game reaching exactly the same dizzying heights as we heard on its predecessor. The Nottingham resident has long been favoured as an MC’s MC and with Bem it is easy to hear why, as the ease with which he delivers the most intricate bars is almost criminal. And his talents don’t stop there, as the majority of Bem is self-produced, with a couple of exceptions courtesy of the Beat Punisher himself, Stu Bangas. The more soulful side to the album is backed up with some nicely placed features, including Liam Bailey and Tyler Daley, as well as guest spots from Tommy Nova, Taja, Oliver Rees, and fellow VVV rapper, Vandal Savage. You can hear the album for yourself below and there are plenty of physical bundles available via Bandcamp. Plus it was Jugz’s birthday yesterday, so go and celebrate by buying some of his art. Children of Zeus: Royal / Get What’s Yours

New music from Children of Zeus, as they release a double AA-side single for the Valentine’s Day celebrations. It really is a two part affair, with the soulful first track, Royal, sounding like it just walked out of the 70’s, while Get What’s Yours has a distinctly more potent neo soul vibe. Both tracks were written and produced by Konny and Tyler. You can stream them below and a limited edition 7″ is also available. Continue reading “Children of Zeus: Royal / Get What’s Yours”

Children of Zeus: Vibrations

On their quest for total world domination, Children of Zeus recently spent some time touring in South Africa. While they were in Soweto they also found the time to shoot a new video, for their Vibrations track, which is the closer on their triumphant debut LP, Travel Light. Vibrations is produced by K15 and the video was directed by Sims Phakisi. Travel Light is available to stream and download now.

Children Of Zeus: Travel Light (Stream)

It’s Friday, the sun is shining, Trump is getting the British welcome he deserves and we can finally indulge ourselves in the debut album from Children of Zeus. It has been a very long time coming and any regular visitors to my blog will know the work that the Manchester duo have put in over the years to get to this point. Weighing in at 13 tracks, Travel Light is everything I was anticipating. The MCR family vibe is as strong as ever, with guest spots from LayFullStop, [KSR], Metrodome and DRS, plus further production credits from Juga-Naut, Sebb Bash and Beat Butcha. Their trademark hip hop-soul sound is the most prevalent on the album, but there are elements of reggae and jazz at work too, making Travel Light a highly ambitious album, but one that works incredibly well. You can stream it in full below, with downloads and physicals available via Bandcamp. Continue reading “Children Of Zeus: Travel Light (Stream)”

Children of Zeus ft. DRS & [ K S R ]: All On You

In case you hadn’t heard me banging on about it, Children of Zeus release their debut album on Friday after much anticipation from their ever-expanding band of followers and fans. To get us in the mood, this morning saw the release of the latest video from the Manchester duo. All On You features Konny’s old sparring partner, DRS, alongside one of MCR’s many rising stars, [ K S R ]. The video was made by Tarnish Vision. Travel Light is available to pre-order via Bandcamp.

Children of Zeus ft. DRS & [K S R]: All On You

Last week we were finally blessed with a release date for the debut from Children of Zeus, as well as a look at the artwork and tracklist. We were also treated to a brand new single from the duo, the next sliver from the album, which premiered over on Complex.
All On You is a very Manchester affair, with Konny and Tyler being joined by long-term friend and collaborator DRS, as well as rising star, [K S R]. As Konny explained to Complex, “[K S R] is the future of UK soul music, so we got him on the album before we can’t afford him, and D.R.S is the glue that holds the city together so we took myself off and put him on the track instead.”
You can stream All On You below and the album, Travel Light, is available to pre-order now with the release scheduled for 13 July. Continue reading “Children of Zeus ft. DRS & [K S R]: All On You”

Children Of Zeus: Travel Light

It’s been a long time coming, but we are now into the final few weeks before the arrival of the debut album from Children of Zeus. “Highly anticipated” doesn’t even cut it. Yesterday saw the unveiling of the artwork, the tracklist and the chance to pre-order what is undoubtedly going to be one of the most popular releases of the year.
It’s also a release that is going to be the much deserved payoff for the many years that both Konny and Tyler have dedicated to their respective fields, so much so that their fans are as happy as their own kinfolk to see the duo getting so much shine.
Travel Light promises to deliver more of the street soul flavour that has proved so popular since Children of Zeus first formed, as well as some reggae and jazz cuts thrown into the mix. There are features too from LayFullStop, [KSR], DRS and Terri Walker, plus production from Sebb Bash, Juga-Naut and Beat Butcha. The album is available to pre-order now on all formats and you can stream a couple of the tracks below. The official release date is set for 13 July on First Word Records. Children of Zeus: Slow Down/All Night

Children of Zeus recently announced the release of some new music, acting as a sort of bridge across to the day their long-awaited album comes out. Slow Down is the first single from the album, while All Night serves as a bonus for those fans who have been dying for new material from the Manchester duo. Now both tracks have been released in video form too, thanks to the visual handiwork of Karl John. Continue reading “Children of Zeus: Slow Down/All Night”
