Lunar C & HashFinger: Pink Lagoon

New music from Lunar C and Hashfinger, as they join forces to bring us Pink Lagoon. Fans of the blog will know I’m a big Lunar fan anyway, but I think this is my favourite from him so far. He definitely benefits from sticking with one producer, and his creative chemistry with Hashfinger has been on point since they first started making music together in the early Bradford days. The whole album is a treat on the ears, but there are definite highlights, like the bars-laden Oil Painting, which features not one, not two, but three battle rap legends, as Lunar is joined by Tony D and Shotty Horroh. Lefty also drops in on a couple of tracks, and P Solja brings the grit on Death Row. No Bandcamp streams, but I’ve included the Spotify preview below. Get stuck in.

Seanie T ft. Roots Manuva, Rodney P, Blak Twang, Ragga Twins, Tony D & More: Veterans

Absolute monster of a track from Seanie T, as he gathers up fellow veterans from across the genres for this sprawling posse cut. The list of participants is impressive, with more years of service than I can count, under their collective belts. Roots Manuva, Rodney P, Blak Twang, Ragga Twins, Tony D, Ty, MC Creed, Hill Street Soul and Ricky Rankin are just a few of the 20+ artists involved, all backed up by some nice production from DJ Suro and Seanie T. Veterans is lifted from Seanie’s Rough, Rugged & Smooth album, which saw its release earlier this year.

Gi3MO: Big Gizzy Is Boss (Stream)

A welcome return for one of Brighton’s finest, as Gi3MO releases his new mixtape, Big Gizzy Is Boss. The project is a selection of previously unreleased tracks from the Rum Com MC, including some absolutely golden features from the likes of Tony D, Micall Parknsun, Inja and Dirty Dike. There are of course appearances from his Boozetown family too, with Ceezlin, Hatter, Dan Dastard and Rag’N’Bone Man all dropping gems. The project was put together by Giz and DJ Choice. It is available to stream below and you can grab a download over on the Rum Com Bandcamp page. Continue reading “Gi3MO: Big Gizzy Is Boss (Stream)”

Doc Brown ft. Tony D & Reveal: Amnesia

You’d be forgiven for thinking we’d all surreptitiously time travelled back about a decade cos not only are Phi Life Cypher and Task Force reforming and putting out new music, but Doc Brown has stepped back into the game (he never really left) and he’s brought his old crew with him. Continue reading “Doc Brown ft. Tony D & Reveal: Amnesia”

Tony D & Locksmyth ft. Oshea: Police Harassment

It’s not often you hear Tony D rap outside of the battle circuits nowadays, so when he announced he was teaming up with Locksmyth for the Tone & Smyth Show, the people understandably rejoiced.
It has been a long time coming, but now the project is going to see the light of day and to give us a taste of what to expect, this week saw the release of the first video. Continue reading “Tony D & Locksmyth ft. Oshea: Police Harassment”

THEME “Toys Get Smoked” EP

I’ve got a lot of time for this new EP from London MC, THEME. As a debut release, he seems to have ticked all the right boxes, in terms of guest production and verses, but without distracting from the main star of the show: THEME and his bars. Continue reading “THEME “Toys Get Smoked” EP”
