New music from UK underground favourite, Ramson Badbonez, as he gears up to release his new Death Mask LP. On Sarcophagus, Badbonez takes aim at what I like to call grief tourism – the trend of people seemingly only championing an artist’s work once the artist is dead, having never mentioned them or their art before the event. I’m all for people discovering new artists who they relate to or connect with musically, but to go on as if you’ve always been their biggest fan, just to get more likes, is ultimately a bitch move. The video for Sarcophagus was made by This & That Media and the track was produced by Mark Fear. Pre-orders for Death Mask are available now. Read the rest of this entry »

A brand new video from Jam Baxter, for the next track to be taken from his recent Off Piste EP. The Stump is the EP’s closing track and features some masterful production from frequent collaborator, Chemo, and also Last Japan, the man behind the beat on Vulture. It’s by far the high point of the EP and I’d argue a high point in Baxter’s entire catalogue. The video for The Stump was made by This & That Media and Off Piste is out now on High Focus. A brand new video from Jam Baxter has just materialised, to coincide with the launch of his first ever book. Red Hawaiian is produced by Strange U’s own Dr Zygote, who has concocted a bouncy, warped beat which switches up nicely halfway through and strays just enough into the left field. Baxter’s book, Off Piste, is a collection of lyrics, illustrations and other visual madnesses, from the mind of one of the country’s most unique MCs. Pre-orders for the book, 7″ single and associated merch are available via High Focus. The video for Red Hawaiian is made by This & That Media.

If you weren’t already hyped about the debut album from CMPND, then I reckon this latest single will change your mind. E.W.A dropped today and sees the trio going all out over a suitably grimy beat from in-house producer, Wundrop. The levels are raised once again by the accompanying video, thanks to another visually arresting saga from This & That Media. Eagle Court is due for release on 11 October on High Focus.

Very happy to finally be able to bring you the new Baileys Brown solo LP in all its genre-defying glory. If you’re already familiar with Baileys Brown’s work, you will know he is a producer who is not afraid to venture outside the normal constraints of a genre and draw on musical influences from other areas, to create unique soundscapes which are among some of the most ambitious in the UK right now. When he found a home at Potent Funk it seemed like the ideal setting for his exploits, thanks to their already established love of ‘hybrid rap shit’ and with that in mind, Still Fresh serves as the perfect label debut. It’s a good day for hip hop, as Ronnie Bosh’s debut solo LP is finally released. Having been a major contributor to the scene for a long time, thanks to his Contact Play affiliation and the numerous features it spawned, Bosh has built up a solid fanbase who have all been crying out for a full-length project. All People Expect is the perfect answer to those cries, with Bosh’s baritone flows perfectly lacing Dike’s production; the result of years of collaborations between the two of them, including on the Dike-produced My Business by Rag’N’Bone Man. Following on from a triumphant set at the High Focus Block Party on Saturday, CMPND bless us with a brand new video as they continue to build the hype for their debut LP. Paraphrase is the third track to emerge since the crew announced their signing to HF and sees the trio reuniting with long-term friend and collaborator, Verbz. The track is produced by Wundrop and the video was made by This & That Media.

Another huge track from Baileys Brown as the release date for his solo album draws ever nearer. This time round, the Bristol producer has drafted in his old accomplice, Datkid, as well as his label-mate, Dabbla, with the trio going off in pursuit of that elusive cash money. And once again it’s another stunning visual accomplishment from This & That Media (keep your eyes peeled for plenty of UKHH related cameos too). The album, Still Fresh, is due for release on 26 July on Potent Funk.

Yesterday CMPND served up another taster from their forthcoming full-length project, as they continue to build on the much warranted hype. As usual it’s Wundrop on the beat and vocals, as well as more exemplary mic work from Vitamin G and Kemastry. The video was made by This & That Media. You can stream Flight 370 on all the usual platforms.

Another surprise drop from SMB favourite, Ronnie Bosh, as he returns with a newly crafted banger in the form of You Know. Once again it’s Dirty Dike on the beat and the video was made by This & That Media. No release date for the album yet, but I’m sure it can’t be too far off.
