Bristol represent in the latest video from Split Prophets. It’s been a while since we heard from the crew, so it’s good to hear Res and Upfront going back to back on this tasty cut from Badhabitz. Also props to This & That Media, who pulled out all the stops to put the video together, resulting in a sublime patchwork tour of the city.

Dabbla x Sumgii: Out My Way
Fresh visual stimulation from the Potent Funk family, as Dabbla and Sumgii reveal the latest video from their recent Nobody LP. Once again, it’s This & That Media who are the brains behind the video, which features cameos from a selection of perhaps familiar faces, including Jester Jacobs and Alenee Aisha. Nobody is out now on all the usual platforms, with physicals available via Potent Funk.
Dabbla x Sumgii: Nobody (Video) + LP Stream
New visual antics from Dabbla and Sumgii, as they celebrate the release of their new album with a fresh video. Nobody is the titular track, as well as the opener, and as you will hear the duo kick things off with a bass-heavy bang. I’ve got a proper review coming in The Wire next month, but just know that for my money this is Dabbla’s strongest work to date, and when he’s alongside a producer he knows that well and the producer is as talented as Sumgii is, then you’re already looking at a recipe for success, which is easily surpassed on Nobody. The tense, bloodthirsty visuals come courtesy of This & That Media. Nobody is out now on Potent Funk and you can stream it in full below. Benaddict: Angel Eyes
Very happy to be able to bring you new music from Benaddict, as he returns to the fore with a new single. The Yogocop MC and producer has been relatively silent since his 2018 album, A New Leaf, so it’s nice to hear him back at it, and with a really nice track too. Angel Eyes features production from Mr Slipz, fresh from his recent signing with High Focus alongside Verbz. The track is the first to be taken from Benaddict’s upcoming album, Rain Falls, which I will have more news on soon. The video was made by This & That Media. Pre-orders for Rain Falls are already available.
The Four Owls ft. Smellington Piff: Sound The Alarm
As you are no doubt aware, we are moving ever closer to the arrival of the new album from The Four Owls and yesterday, High Focus leaked a bit more info about the project. Seemingly raising the bar across every level, the new album will include another heady line-up of features, including a fresh contribution from DJ Premier, as well as vocal support from Kool G Rap, Roc Marciano, Masta Killa, R.A. The Rugged Man and Smellington Piff. And speaking of Mr Piff, today we have been treated to the latest single from the album, Sound The Alarm, which features the man himself. The video was made by This & That Media. Nocturnal Instinct is due for release on 17 April.
Ramson Badbonez: Sarcophagus
New music from UK underground favourite, Ramson Badbonez, as he gears up to release his new Death Mask LP. On Sarcophagus, Badbonez takes aim at what I like to call grief tourism – the trend of people seemingly only championing an artist’s work once the artist is dead, having never mentioned them or their art before the event. I’m all for people discovering new artists who they relate to or connect with musically, but to go on as if you’ve always been their biggest fan, just to get more likes, is ultimately a bitch move. The video for Sarcophagus was made by This & That Media and the track was produced by Mark Fear. Pre-orders for Death Mask are available now. Continue reading “Ramson Badbonez: Sarcophagus”
Jam Baxter: The Stump
A brand new video from Jam Baxter, for the next track to be taken from his recent Off Piste EP. The Stump is the EP’s closing track and features some masterful production from frequent collaborator, Chemo, and also Last Japan, the man behind the beat on Vulture. It’s by far the high point of the EP and I’d argue a high point in Baxter’s entire catalogue. The video for The Stump was made by This & That Media and Off Piste is out now on High Focus. Jam Baxter: Red Hawaiian
A brand new video from Jam Baxter has just materialised, to coincide with the launch of his first ever book. Red Hawaiian is produced by Strange U’s own Dr Zygote, who has concocted a bouncy, warped beat which switches up nicely halfway through and strays just enough into the left field. Baxter’s book, Off Piste, is a collection of lyrics, illustrations and other visual madnesses, from the mind of one of the country’s most unique MCs. Pre-orders for the book, 7″ single and associated merch are available via High Focus. The video for Red Hawaiian is made by This & That Media.
CMPND: E.W.A
If you weren’t already hyped about the debut album from CMPND, then I reckon this latest single will change your mind. E.W.A dropped today and sees the trio going all out over a suitably grimy beat from in-house producer, Wundrop. The levels are raised once again by the accompanying video, thanks to another visually arresting saga from This & That Media. Eagle Court is due for release on 11 October on High Focus.
Baileys Brown ft. Lee Scott & Dabbla: Something Else Entirely (Not Human) + Album Stream
Very happy to finally be able to bring you the new Baileys Brown solo LP in all its genre-defying glory. If you’re already familiar with Baileys Brown’s work, you will know he is a producer who is not afraid to venture outside the normal constraints of a genre and draw on musical influences from other areas, to create unique soundscapes which are among some of the most ambitious in the UK right now. When he found a home at Potent Funk it seemed like the ideal setting for his exploits, thanks to their already established love of ‘hybrid rap shit’ and with that in mind, Still Fresh serves as the perfect label debut.
