Over a year ago we were treated to a new video from UK rap veteran, Chester P, with the promise of a new project to follow. Now I am pleased to be able to say that the Task Force MC and producer has fulfilled that promise and today has delivered The Post Apocalyptic Story Teller. Produced entirely by Chester and Django Mankub, the EP is a fine snapshot of the mindset and inner visions of one of the more complex lyricists this isle has ever birthed. There are no features credited on Bandcamp, but I know for a fact that DRS makes an appearance on Melancholic Flowers – the video of which you can see below. You can also stream the EP below, with downloads available via Real Talk Records. Continue reading “Chester P: The Post Apocalyptic Story Teller (Stream)”
Bit of a special release here, as Farma G – aka Farma Beats – unites with his son, Remus, for Est. 92. Having Task Force blood in your veins from the off was pretty much a guarantee that you were going to be a killer on the mic and that is exactly how Remus developed over the years. He’s shelled down appearances on SBTV, as well as highly notable guest features for the likes of Ocean Wisdom. Now he enters that rare breed of inter-generational collaboration and the result is pretty special. Five tracks with vocals by both Farma & Son, as well as full production from Farma throughout. A pleasure to see this happen and an additional pleasure to hear it work so well. You can stream the EP below and downloads are available via Bandcamp. A little menacing number from the Brothers McBane, which appeared out of the blue yesterday and sees Chester taking just two minutes to remind us why he is one of the nicest lyricists to come out of this country. Both him and Farma seem to have acquired a new lease of life recently, with the promise of a ton of new music scheduled for next year, both individually and as Task Force. Fuck Them! can be stream below. Continue reading “Chester P X Farmabeats: Fuck Them!”
There aren’t many crews as respected and as influential as Task Force; the brothers paved the way for a lot of the artists who are making music in this country today. When they announced their reunion tour, the scene reacted with understandable glee and since then we have been told that there is new music on the way as well. Continue reading “Chester P: The P.A.S.T”
I had to write ‘everyone’ cos I literally cannot fit all the MCs names into the title. 20 rappers, eight bars a piece. Safe to say this is a monumental track from Leaf Dog, as he continues to build on the intrigue for his forthcoming album, Dyslexic Disciple. Phi Life Cypher, Smellington Piff, BVA, Cracker Jon, Jehst, Jack Jetson, Dirty Dike, Verb T, Sonnyjim, Mysdiggi, Klashnekoff, Fliptrix, Bill Shakes, Eric The Red, King Kashmere, Remus, Task Force and DJ Sammy B-Side providing the cuts. Pre-orders for the album are available here.
UK hip hop legend and all round nice guy, Chester P, is already known for his charitable work among Britain’s homeless and now he has taken the next step in his good deeds by releasing this compilation. Featuring a lot of the UK’s finest talents – as you can see from the cover above – all the proceeds from the release will go towards helping those in dire need, especially at this desperate time of year. Farma G shared this track a couple of days ago, which he says has been sitting on his hard drive for a long time. Produced by The Purist and titled with his and Chester P’s respective birthdays, this track is a moving account of his upbringing and subsequent years, dealing with things like his relationship with his parents and the birth of his first son, Aaron aka Remus.
Two new Task Force tracks in a week is a rare treat by anyone’s standards, but that’s exactly what what’s happened this week. Continue reading “Task Force “Teacher Teacher””
Did someone order a new Task Force video? Yes, the crew who brought us Music From the Corner, are back with the fifth instalment in the series, which is dropping very soon. Continue reading “Task Force “My Last Trip””
