Brum and MCR unite on the new track from EatGood head honcho, SonnyJim and LEVELZ favourite, Sparkz. The two MCs share the same star sign, which gave rise to the name of the track, with the duo going verse for verse over a dusty looped beat from Sonny. The cuts come courtesy of Voodoo Black’s own DJ Cutterz. You can stream Virgoism below. Continue reading “SonnyJim & Sparkz ft. DJ Cutterz: Virgoism”
Absolute belter here from the Voodoo Black camp, as they drop their latest video, Clap Click. The Manchester quartet have put old Sesame Street and Muppets footage to clever use in the video, then laced it with typically deft lyricism from MCs Sparkz, Ellis Meade and Dubbul O. The track is out now on Room2 Records.
The Mouse Outfit are gearing up to release their new album at the start of next month, so yesterday saw the arrival of a new video to keep us in the mood. Repeat features regular faces, Dubbul O, Sparkz and Ellis Meade on top of some joint production from Chini and Metrodome. Jagged Tooth Crook is scheduled for release on 4 May.
The Beggars are back with a ridiculous line-up for the VIP remix of their recent banger, Toast. When the original emerged from the ether, we were treated to a lesson in blitzkrieg bars from Izzie Gibbs and Dizmack, as they smashed the Alix Perez co-produced beat to smithereens. But if you thought that was a lot, wait until you press play on this madness. Sparkz, Truthos, Physiks, Illaman, Mad Hed City, Killa P, Marger and Jumanji all jump on and in the process create an early contender for posse cut of the year. BANG.
Sparkz is back with a new video for his standalone track, Stay Awake. The Manchester MC shines a light on the murkiness of government injustice, while taking shots at the mainstream media who perpetuate their rhetoric of demonising the working classes. Stay Awake is produced by Sparkz and the video was shot by Jay Bannister. You can download it here.
That Sound is the latest track to be lifted from the recent Verb T & Pitch 92 album, Good Evening. When it was announced that the two of them were making an album together, I thought back to their collaborations on the last Mouse Outfit album and knew that the likelihood was that they were going to create something brilliant. Good Evening is just that.
The Man With the Foggy Eyes is one of Verb T’s strongest releases and that was the result of him working with just one producer, so I had high hopes for his collaboration with Pitch and even they were surpassed. Continue reading “Verb T & Pitch 92: Good Evening”
A new video for one of the more infectious tracks from the latest album by The Mouse Outfit. Featuring no less than Fox, Sparkz, Jman and T-Man, as well as a lovely reggae/ska vibe to the whole thing, 007 is one of my favourites so far from the Manchester collective. The lyric video was made by Stemfour.
Dr Syntax should be a name known to anyone who has followed UK rap at any point during the last 10 years. Since his early days working with the likes of Foreign Beggars, to his more recent success as front man of The Mouse Outfit and his work with Pete Cannon, Syntax has built up a worthy following of fans. I recently had the chance to chat with him before The Mouse Outfit show in Bristol last month. We spoke about how he came to work with Mouse Outfit, where hip hop could be headed and his future plans with Pete Cannon. Continue reading “Dr Syntax: Interview”
Good vibes in the latest video from the Mouse Outfit, as they bring some visual clarity to Sip a Little Bit of Rum. Featuring frequent collaborators Sparkz and Fox, who are both on fine form, the track is produced by Pitch. It is available to buy now, as well as the full album, over at Bandcamp.
