The man of a million jawns returns with his latest selection, a timely compilation of his favourite tracks, which have all been remastered to perfection. As the title suggests, there are more volumes to follow, but for now you can be satisfied with this run of poignant tracks, including the essential, wish cops would stop killing unarmed black people. You can listen to the album below and there are downloads available on Bandcamp, as well as some t-shirts which were made as a tribute to Breonna Taylor. Featuring a lovely design by collage king, Dewey Saunders, 100% of profits from the shirts will be donated to Breonna’s official GoFundMe page. As I reported at the end of last month, a new Sean Price album was looming thanks to a collaboration with Philly producer, Small Professor. 86 Witness arrived in full on Friday and serves as a worthy addition to P’s weighty back catalogue. As alluded to in the title, the album is a homage to 1986 so expect a lot of timely references in the track names and beyond. Unlike some posthumous projects, 86 Witness has a really solid flow to it and is devoid of the clunky sound that plagues other releases made in a similar fashion. ’86 Witness is the long-awaited collaboration between the late great, Sean Price and Career Crooks producer, Small Professor. According to Duck Down the album has been years in the making, but now we are finally reaching the release date and if the first leak is anything to go by, we are in for a treat. John Gotti features a blistering list of MCs, as P is joined by AG Da Coroner, Guilty Simpson and Your Old Droog, accompanied by a suitably rugged beat from Small Pro. The rest of the album boasts a similar array of talented guests, including Zilla Rocca, Quelle Chris and ELUCID. Pre-orders for ’86 Witness are available now and you can stream John Gotti below. I already explained the reasons for my hype about the forthcoming Career Crooks album, from Zilla Rocca & Small Pro; a project that has been anticipated by fans of the duo since they started talking it up many moons ago. Now the time is nearly upon us, but in the meantime they have only gone and released a whole other EP for us to enjoy while these last few days pass by. Continue reading “Career Crooks: Take What’s Coming EP”
My homie Zilla Rocca has an album coming out soon with his friend and frequent collaborator Small Pro and this week they released a video from the project. No surprises it’s dope as fuck.
Going by the name Career Crooks, the duo have used a Don Draper quote as the inspiration for this track: “We’re going to sit at our desks and keep typing while the walls fall down around us because we’re creative – the least important, most important thing there is”. The album is due out early next year; more news on that soon.
Yet another weighty run of remixes from Zilla Rocca, as he lends his trademark noir sound to tracks from Small Pro, Guilty Simpson, Castle and B. Dolan, to name a few. Continue reading “Zilla Rocca: Anything I Touch I Bruise Vol. 2”
