Sleep Sinatra: Voodoo Kit (Stream)

The phrase quality over quantity becomes redundant with an artist like Sleep Sinatra, who has released eight strong projects this year alone, including his a EP which emerged this week. Voodoo Kit is a collaborative venture with New Jersey producer, Killer Kane. The digital version comes in at five tracks, including an assist from Lord Juco on Eternalist, and if you cop the CD version then you get two bonus remixes, complete with features from Aakeem Eshu and Sekwence. You can hear the EP for yourself below, with all of the above available via Bandcamp. Continue reading “Sleep Sinatra: Voodoo Kit (Stream)”

Iceberg Theory: Slothmonk & Friends Vol. 1 (Stream)

Big release here from Iceberg Theory, as he finally breathes life into the production album he’s been plotting and planning for the last few years. Slothmonk & Friends comes off the back of his successful run of collabs with August Fanon, but this time we get to hear a stack of talented artists doing their thing over Iceberg’s beats. And boy does it work well. The project features some superb guest spots from the likes of Defcee, Sleep Sinatra, Jyroscope and Tokyo Cigar, with IT’s beats sounding bespoke on each and every track. You can stream the full thing for yourself below and then head to Bandcamp to cop a download. Continue reading “Iceberg Theory: Slothmonk & Friends Vol. 1 (Stream)”

Sleep Sinatra: Sleeper Effect (Stream)

Another essential project from Sleep Sinatra, as he introduces us to the Sleeper Effect. This time round the Nebraska MC has brought in an array of production talent to assist with the proceedings and the result is a richly diverse listen, complemented by both Sinatra’s own brand of lyricism and by the guest rappers on the bill. Those guests are notable in their own right, with Defcee, Ty Farris, BubRock and Teller Bank$, all bringing their accomplished penmanship to the album. And production wise, you’ve got contributions from the likes of Stu Bangas, Sadhugold, BloodMoney Perez and August Fanon. The whole album is out now on all the usual platforms and you can stream it in full below. Continue reading “Sleep Sinatra: Sleeper Effect (Stream)”

Sleep Sinatra: No Anthems (Stream)

Sleep Sinatra is back with a new EP, following on from a triumphant 2019, which saw him release a handful of very well received projects. No Anthems is a worthy successor to those earlier releases, with the Nebraska MC finding the ideal creative balance with newly formed production duo, Parish & Bird, who are at the helm for the whole project. Syncopated drum loops and meandering horns, gel perfectly with Sinatra’s brand of lyricism which successfully stalks the line between abstract and reality. There are a couple of great features too, which only add to the EP’s potency, as BrainOrchestra and Nowaah the Flood bring their respective flows to the mix. You can hear the EP for yourself below and there are physical/digital options available via Bandcamp. Continue reading “Sleep Sinatra: No Anthems (Stream)”

ialive: I’ll Wait Forever (Stream)

A superb project here from ialive, as he achieves his vision of assembling a group of his favourite artists to go to work on a selection of his favourite beats. It’s a fantastic array of names on the tracklist, including Philly affiliates Zilla Rocca, Curly Castro and Torito, as well as the likes of Uncommon NASA, Sleep Sinatra, Unsung and Googie. It’s an ambitious album to pull off, but that’s precisely what ialive has done in spades, simultaneously shining a light on the talent both within his peer group and within his own production techniques. I’ll Wait Forever is out now via Bandcamp and you can also stream it below. Continue reading “ialive: I’ll Wait Forever (Stream)”

Sleep Sinatra: Animal God (Stream)

The run of success continues for Sleep Sinatra, as he brings a momentous year to a close with his latest album. Animal God is the next in a long line of strong projects this year, including CLASSYSINATRA and The Unlearning, further highlighting the Lincoln MC as an artist who is not to be ignored. This latest album features beats from a tight selection of producers, including August Fanon, Stu Bangas, Don Carrera and Kluse. You can stream Animal God in full below and downloads are available via Bandcamp.

Sleep Sinatra x Body Bag Ben: The Peacemaker (Stream)

Another essential listen from Sleep Sinatra as he flexes more of his lyrical muscle on his latest project. The Peacemaker sees the Lincoln MC joining forces with Oxnard producer, Body Bag Ben, resulting in six finely crafted heat rocks which serve as a nice addition to Sinatra’s ever-expanding repertoire. The EP also features some tight verses from Ca$ablanca, Guy Grams and General Back Pain. Physicals and downloads of The Peacemaker are available now, plus you can stream it in full below. Continue reading “Sleep Sinatra x Body Bag Ben: The Peacemaker (Stream)”

Sleep Sinatra: CLASSYSINATRA (Stream)

Six more jewels from Sleep Sinatra and his most recent project, CLASSYSINATRA. For this EP the Nebraska MC has connected with Fortes who handles all the production, resulting in a luxurious, laid-back feel throughout. The only feature comes from Teller Bank$, who drops in on Deity. You can hear the EP in full below, with downloads available over on Bandcamp. Continue reading “Sleep Sinatra: CLASSYSINATRA (Stream)”

Sleep Sinatra: XERXES Flow (Stream)

Another project that slipped under the radar thanks to my drunken Christmas haze, is the latest from Sleep Sinatra. XERXES Flow rounded off a solid year for the Nebraska MC, following on from two EPs and his [D] A R K A N G E L LP. Once again on XERXES we’re reminded why Sinatra is such a competent MC and once again he manages to find the ideal batch of beats to bring the EP to life, thanks to production credits from the likes of August Fanon and SADHUGOLD. You can stream XERXES Flow below and there are downloads available over on Bandcamp. Continue reading “Sleep Sinatra: XERXES Flow (Stream)”

Bloodmoney Perez: Time Is A Motherfucker (Stream)

Another project that I slept on, but thankfully caught up with this week, is the latest from Bloodmoney Perez. The Portland artist came up on the same scene as cats like Blu & Exile, and has been making hip hop since his formative years as a teenager. Time Is A Motherfucker is the result of three years of hard work and focus, but the result is well worth the grind as Perez channels the influences of names like Philip K Dick and Pedro Albizu Campos, alongside a number of talented rap luminaries on the assist. Curly Castro, Sleep Sinatra and MCF all bring their respective voices to the proceedings, as well as Messiah Musik, who injects his production skills into the majority of the tracks. Perez handles the beats on the remainder, proving his worth both in the booth and behind the boards. You can stream the album in full below, with downloads and physicals available over on Bandcamp.
