Rum Committee’s own Prince Kong returns with a new video for a track taken from his recent Off Cuts EP. You Don’t Want It is the opener on the EP and is produced by KD, who handles most of the production on the project, with co-production credits going to Gi3MO on Wrong Crowd. The video was made by Si Haze Films. You can stream Off Cuts below and stay tuned for the full-length Prehab album from Kong coming on 9 May. Continue reading “Kong: You Don’t Want It + EP Stream”
Following on from his new mixtape drop last week, Gi3MO now hits us with a new video from the project. F.U.T.F features fellow Rum Com rhymer, Ceezlin and regular sparring partner, Hatter, while production comes courtesy of Pro P. The track is lifted from Big Gizzy Is Boss, which is out now and then keep an eye out for his new album coming soon, The Unmistakable Gary Guttersnypes.
A welcome return for one of Brighton’s finest, as Gi3MO releases his new mixtape, Big Gizzy Is Boss. The project is a selection of previously unreleased tracks from the Rum Com MC, including some absolutely golden features from the likes of Tony D, Micall Parknsun, Inja and Dirty Dike. There are of course appearances from his Boozetown family too, with Ceezlin, Hatter, Dan Dastard and Rag’N’Bone Man all dropping gems. The project was put together by Giz and DJ Choice. It is available to stream below and you can grab a download over on the Rum Com Bandcamp page. Continue reading “Gi3MO: Big Gizzy Is Boss (Stream)”
One of the best things about someone from an independent movement achieving commercial success, is that it allows them to shine a light on the scene that helped them get to where they are today (ego permitting). Take Rag’N’Bone Man for example. Ever since he smashed into the charts last year, he has consistently involved his friends and local musical peers in everything he’s done, from taking Rum Committee on tour with him, to playing a very active role as patron of Brighton-based youth charity, AudioActive. Hatter is back with a new self-produced joint, which was released yesterday as the UK went to the polls. The sentiment of the track is that the world seems to be going backwards and with a possible Tory/DUP alliance on the cards, it seems particularly apt today.
Great new project from Rum Committee, as Captain Bukioe and KD release their Feast or Famine EP. KD’s beats are as on point as ever, serving as the perfect backing for Bukioe to tear through and complimented by some nice guitar work from Eric Turner and Henry Clark. Bukioe is also Rum Com’s resident artist and is the man responsible for the dope cover art. You can stream the EP below and it is also available for free download from the Rum Com Bandcamp. Rag’n’Bone Man is one of those rare artists who has managed to make the leap from underground to mainstream, without losing any of their integrity. I was lucky enough to to chat with him recently about his early influences, staying grounded and his recurring themes of death and mortality, among other things. The interview took place at the Cypher Lounge at the Windmill in Brixton. Continue reading “Rag’n’Bone Man: Interview”
