Today, I’m very pleased to bring you the UK premiere of the latest single from the ever-prolific, Blu, and production maestro, Damu the Fudgemunk. It’s the title song from their recent full-length collaboration, which saw its release back in August. Ground & Water is a mellow, head-nod inducing, strings laced track, with Blu and Damu delivering superb back to back verses. It’s also a The full project is available to stream now on all the usual platforms.
One of the more prolific artists of his generation returns with something of a surprise new project, as Blu and Washington-based production guru, Damu The Fudgemunk, unite to bring us, Ground & Water. The eight track release appeared on Friday, along with some additional notes from Damu where he explained that he felt that Blu was the storyteller who could bring the material to life. Raw Poetic makes a top notch appearance on Share The Love and there are equally strong contributions from Cashus King, Shawn Jackson, Yamin Semali and Local Blacc, who all drop in on Beast Mode. You can hear both those tracks, as well as the rest of the album, below and downloads are available via Bandcamp. Continue reading “Blu x Damu The Fudgemunk: Ground & Water (Stream)”
Another solid track from Kev Brown’s most recent project, Homework, which is out now on Redefinition Records. The video was made by Earthworm Collective.
Kev Brown is celebrating the release of his latest album, Homework, which touched ground last week. We had already been treated to one video from the album and now the Maryland MC/producer hits us with another, this time for the beautifully titled, Look at the Way the Words Move. Homework is available now from all the usual spots.
Kev Brown is back at it as he gears up for the release of his latest album. Blueprint from the Masters/Non Destructive Chop is the first glimpse at what’s in store and no surprises it looks set to be another triumph. Pre-orders for Homework are available now via Redefinition Records.
Nice bit of throwback rap from Raw Poetic and Damu the Fudgemunk, as they unleash another video from their latest collaboration, The Reflective Sea. The album marks another success for the Redefinition Records label and takes its deserved place among the abundance of solid releases that have emerged throughout the year. My Grown Up Rap family just posted a really insightful video with Raw Poetic & Damu, which you can find here. The album is out now on all digital platforms, with vinyl coming at the start of next year.
It’s been a while since I heard Insight on a track, so was pleased to see this collaboration with Damu the Fudgemunk doing the rounds. Taken from a full length project, it’s plain to see Insight is still as skillful as ever and Damu’s production is the ideal accompaniment for those skills. Ears Hears Spears is out on 22 March on Redefinition Records and you can pre-order here. The track is available to stream below. Continue reading “Insight & Damu The Fudgemunk: All Human”
More instrumental glory, this time from Damu the Fudgemunk and his new project, Vignettes. This is a beast of a release, weighing in at 15 tracks, with some of them hitting the 12 minute mark. It’s also a good exhibit in the case for why Damu has gained such a loyal following and for why Redefinition Records are becoming a label to be reckoned with. The album is available to stream below and you can cop a download over on Bandcamp. Continue reading “Damu the Fudgemunk: Vignettes”
Getting kids to sing your hook used to be a guaranteed way for me to hate your music, but as always there are exceptions to the rule. Take this new jam from Blu and 45 king. While it is only a sample of kids singing, it is still kids singing and at first my ears were horrified, but in actual face it works well.
Someone likened it to Hard Knock Life but that is one of the ones I hate, so I would liken this to more to Another Brick in the Wall (purely from a kids singing POV not a musical one).
Anyway enough blabbering, check the joint, get the free download and cop the 7 inch if you so desire. They are available here.
