A beast of a posse cut here, masterminded by Bristol-based producer, Sam Krats. For the aptly titled, Culture, Krats has brought together legends from across the Atlantic, thanks to a selection of homegrown talent and a guest spot from Juice Crew veteran, Craig G. Raps from this side of the water are provided by MysDiggi, Gee Bag, Ramson Badbonez and Phoenix Da Icefire, as well as some technical assistance from Jazz T. The vinyl edition also features a heavy remix courtesy of Da Beatminerz. You can find more info on that via Revorg Records.
I’ve got a healthy dose of UK raps for you today, starting off with newly emerged crew, Old Children. Newly emerged they may be, but Old Children is actually comprised of three established artists; namely Booda French, HPBLK (Hyperbolic) and King Kashmere, who decided to pool their talents and put out an understandably strong debut EP. Push Start serves as a fine introduction to Old Children’s methods, with the deftness of Booda and HPBLK’s bars, marrying perfectly with the audible triumph of Kashmere’s production. The first video from the EP was released yesterday, courtesy of Honey JD, and the rest is available to explore below, including the Ramson Badbonez and Jazz T assisted, Louder. Downloads are available now via Louis Den and keep an eye out for physicals coming soon.
Here we have another video from the recent Ramson Badbonez album, which saw its release last month. Jewels & Gems is one of my favourite cuts from the LP, thanks in part to Mark Fear’s production which throbs with energy, adding further weigh to Badbonez’s meticulous flow. In reference to the song’s title, the video sees the High Focus MC and some other ‘inmates’ being sent to work in a mine, thanks to the visual skills of Emotion Blur. Death Mask is out now.
New music from UK underground favourite, Ramson Badbonez, as he gears up to release his new Death Mask LP. On Sarcophagus, Badbonez takes aim at what I like to call grief tourism – the trend of people seemingly only championing an artist’s work once the artist is dead, having never mentioned them or their art before the event. I’m all for people discovering new artists who they relate to or connect with musically, but to go on as if you’ve always been their biggest fan, just to get more likes, is ultimately a bitch move. The video for Sarcophagus was made by This & That Media and the track was produced by Mark Fear. Pre-orders for Death Mask are available now. Continue reading “Ramson Badbonez: Sarcophagus”
As has now become tradition, this month sees the return of the annual High Focus Summer Block Party at, Lakota, the legendary Bristol venue. The label have made big waves in the city over the last few years, thanks to a string of huge parties and this year looks set to continue in similar fashion. Today sees the release of the latest album from veteran mic killer, Ramson Badbonez and to celebrate the occasion, High Focus have also released a new video. Weirdos is produced by Illinformed and comes with a fear & loathing style video, featuring a whole bunch of distorted faces (including mine), courtesy of the always on point, This & That Media. Mic Day The 13th is available now over at the High Focus store and you can stream the full thing below. Continue reading “Ramson Badbonez: Weirdos + Album Stream”
Ramson Badbonez joins forces with Illinformed for Sticks & Stones, the lead single from his forthcoming album. Mic Day 13th is due for release on 31 January on High Focus.
New mixtape from Ramson Badbonez, an MC who is more than capable of taking on some of hip hop’s greatest producers and making their beats his own. This time round he is drawing on DOOM’s great legacy, specifically his Special Herbs Collection. There are six tracks to savour, all mixed and mastered by the OG Jazz T, and it’s available as a free download. You can stream it below and downloads can be found here. As I mentioned last week, the infamous Ramson Badbonez is back with a new album and Bloodsplat is the next track to be lifted from it. He goes in on the horrorcore angle, which won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but his dexterity on the mic is as on point as ever. Not sure who produced the track, but it’s same sample that Dike used in Don’t Make Me by Lee Scott – one for my fellow geeks. The video was made by Luca Bowles. Jason Bonez is out now on High Focus Records.
Badbonez is back and he’s bringing with him a new album. High Focus announced the imminent arrival of Jason Bonez the other day and now we have a new video to get us all in the mood. The album draws on inspiration from Friday the 13th, so expect his lyricism to be as raw as ever. Lock Your Doors is produced by Dr Zygote and Jazz T. The album is due for release on 25 May.
