Today sees the full release of the new EP from Bristol MCs, Twizzy and Jinxsta JX and local producer, Chris Lucas. It’s a solid EP from three artists who have been immersed in the scene long enough now for anything other than the music itself to filter away, leaving six tracks of quality rap forged in the group’s collective passion for the culture. Twizzy and Jinxsta’s flows are well-matched by their differences too, which only adds to the project’s appeal. There is also a good selection of features, thanks to on-point contributions from Press1, Ambush Tactics and DJ Rogue. First Word Last is available to stream below, and there are plenty of physicals and bundles up for grabs too. Continue reading “Twizzy x Jinxsta JX x Chris Lucas: First Word Last (Stream)”

Nice collaboration here from VRBL’s own, Press1 and Sylla B, as they team up with the good Dr Syntax for Smartphone Zombies. The track is produced by Just Sayin and is available to stream/download now.
Great joint from the AFT Raps family as Billy Whizz drops the first single from his upcoming EP. A Song For Noname sees the 3HB producer connecting with fellow Bristol-based rap machine and Don’t Flop On-Beat champ, Press1. The track was the result of an out of the blue phone call from one of Press’s old friends and is a comment on the taboos young men fight against when it comes to talking about their feelings. The video was made by This & That Media. The Always Finding Trouble EP will be out soon on AFT Raps.
I’ve been struggling to write more than a couple of paragraphs for the past few months. Various reasons, too boring or personal to go into now, but it does mean I have failed to shine a light on some decent projects that have been given life in the interim. I wanted to do a bit of a catch up to make amends for my slack attitude and also to bring some thoroughly good music to your attention. Continue reading “The Insomniac Section (Don’t Sleep)”
