ILLAMAN and Pitch 92 keep the energy flowing from their recent album release, with the arrival of a new video. Trust Me is another introspective dive, as ILLAMAN goes soul-searching over some beautifully understated Pitch production. The track is taken from Sometimes Relax, which is out now on Potent Funk.

ILLAMAN & Pitch 92: Gods + LP Stream
A proper bars sesh here from ILLAMAN, with the release of the second video from his new album with Pitch 92. Gods sees the PENGSHUi frontman joining forces with his Problem Child team mates, Dubbledge and Dabbla, for a good old fashioned verbal knees up, which also serves as a reminder of how much chemistry the trio have on a track together. Gods is lifted from the new album, Sometimes Relax, which saw its release on Potent Funk last week. It’s an album that shows a more vulnerable edge to ILLAMAN’s writing, while also maintaining the same lyrical strengths he’s displayed throughout his career. The pairing with Pitch turned out to be even better than expected, thanks to a perfectly matched energy between the booth and the boards. You can peruse the rest of the album below, with downloads etc available via Potent Funk.

A very satisfying introduction to the forthcoming album from ILLAMAN and Pitch 92, along with a new video that premiered today via Potent Funk. Heartfelt bars from ILLAMAN, still tinted with the same humour he’s always brought to the booth, and Pitch once again finding the perfect accompaniment with his production, as he makes his debut with the label. Their album of the same name, is due out on 26 March. More news on that soon.
Dabbla & GhostTown: Wave
It’s been a good few years since we last heard from Dead Players and I’m sure I’m not the only one who would happily devour a new album from the trio. There’s been talk of a third installment but so far nothing has emerged. But we have had some glimmer of hope in the shape of a new video from two of the DP conglomerate, as Dabbla and GhostTown put their collective powers to work on Wave. It’s the type of music they both do best and so it’s no surprise that it turned out as well as it did, happily embracing Potent Funk’s self-proclaimed brand of hybrid rap shit. The video for Wave is out now, with stream and downloads available via the usual platforms.
Dabbla x Sumgii: Same
Fresh batch of visual joy from Dabbla and Sumgii’s recent album, as they unveil a new video for Same. The video was made by KRUPA. Nobody is out now on Potent Funk.
Dabbla ft. Rag’N’Bone Man: Tweeters
Dabbla ups the levels once again with the latest video from last year’s acclaimed Death Moves album. Ably assisted by Rag’N’Bone Man and backed up with some solid production from Foreign Beggars own, Dag Nabbit, Dabbla once again proves his worth on Tweeters. The video features some epic animation and CGI action from Pose Works. Death Moves is out now on Potent Funk.
Dabbla x Sumgii: Self Made
Not long ago I warned you of the imminent arrival of potent hybrid rap shit from LDZ favourites, Dabbla and Sumgii. Well now the track is here and it’s as tight as you’d expect. Remember these two have been making music together for years and so the chemistry is there before they even set foot in the lab. Sumgii has been pushing his own levels upwards ever since I first heard him about 10 years ago and Self Made is a good example of what can be achieved if you take that approach.
There is new LDZ music on the way too, but for now make the most of this tasty little banger. The video was made by SpinCity Visuals and you can buy the single here.
Illaman: Interview
For the past few years Illaman has been making waves in UK hip hop and beyond, largely thanks to his hype fuelled live shows and his involvement with Problem Child, alongside Dubbledge, Dabbla and Sumgii. I got the chance to speak with him at the UK Beatbox Championships last month and we chatted about his journey from metal to rap, his most memorable moments and the plans for his solo album, among many other things. Dabbla: Super Happy
Arguably one of the most positive MCs in the UK, has dropped a video for the equally positive energy anthem, Super Happy, produced by Tom Caruana. This is the latest offering from Dabbla’s forthcoming Year of the Monkey LP and is the perfect antidote for this damp weekend. Year of the Monkey is out on 9 September on High Focus and you can pre-order here.
Dabbla: Interview
Dabbla is an MC who has been on the rap radar for a long time now, thanks to his work with various musical dons and crews over the years. He has recently signed to High Focus and is due to release his debut solo album, Year of the Monkey, in September. I got to have a quick catch up with him recently and here’s what went down.
