Planet Asia: 1984

New music from Planet Asia, as he gives us a glimpse of his forthcoming album on the newly launched Bigger Picture Recordings label. The label is the brainchild of Evidence, who is at the helm for the album’s production, as well as donning his directorial hat for this new video. The filming was handled by fellow regular collaborator, Stephen Vanasco. The full LP, Rule of Thirds, is due for release on 29 October.

Freshman Woes ft. Blu, Planet Asia & MED: [More] Rap Dudes

Strong features on this new track from Cut Crazy Records founder, Freshman Woes, as he follows up his earlier Rap Dudes offering with this latest single. For round two, the producer has brought in the formidable trio of Blu, Planet Asia and MED, resulting in a funk-laden bars fest.

Ghostface Killah x Big Ghost Ltd: The Lost Tapes (Sampler)

Rumours of a collaboration between Ghostface Killah and Big Ghost have been circulating online for a while, with the latter confirming the project’s existence earlier this year. Now it’s all very much a reality, as an official announcement of The Lost Tapes project was made yesterday. As well as the announcement, we were also treated to a single from the album, as well as a sampler and full tracklist (see below). The project is jam packed with features from the likes of Planet Asia, Benny the Butcher, Big Daddy Kane and Cappadonna, as well as Snoop and E-40, who drop in on the lead single, Saigon Velour. Planet Asia ft. Hus Kingpin & SmooVth: Mansa Musa Medallions

The ever-prolific Planet Asia is hitting us with yet another full-length project tomorrow. Following on from January’s Golden Buddha project, Mansa Musa looks set to be reaching the same energy levels he has consistently reached in the two decades he’s been around. Mansa Musa Medallions is the lead single and sees the mic veteran connecting with two of the more established stars from the current crop of MCs, Hus Kingpin and SmooVth. Planet Asia: Magnetic Lord

One of the more consistent MCs of the era recently released yet another new project. The Golden Buddha follows on from last year’s Anchovies project, which the Fresno MC made with Apollo Brown. Magnetic Lord is produced by izznyce and is packed full of the same gritty wordplay that has made Asia an MC’s MC. The Golden Buddha is out now on Brick Records.

Apollo Brown & Planet Asia: Get Back

More gritty minimalist rap from the new Apollo Brown & Planet Asia album. Anchovies is definitely one for rap aficionados and is probably going to end up in my favorite albums of the year, in a year which has produced gem after gem. It is available now on Mello Music Group.

This is the latest track to be taken from the forthcoming album from hip hop heavyweights, Apollo Brown and Planet Asia. The Aura proves exactly why Asia has been one of my favourites since the Still in Training days. Anchovies is due out on Mello Music Group at the end of this week.

It was announced yesterday that Detroit producer, Apollo Brown, would be releasing a joint album with Durag Dynasty favourite, Planet Asia. The album is called Anchovies and the first single was just premiered by Complex.

Smoovth & Giallo Point: Medellin

The end of last month saw the release of a great project from The Winners collective, as Smoovth and Giallo Point dropped their Medellin album. As the name suggests, there are heavy South American influences throughout the album, as well as enough references to make this a suitable soundtrack for Narcos. There are a ton of guest spots, including notable appearances by Vinnie Paz, Planet Asia and SonnyJim. The album is available to stream below, with vinyl and digi downloads available here.

DBA ft. Conway, Planet Asia, & J Scienide: Hollow Tips

Producer DBA should be a name known to rap fans, as he has been putting in work since the late 80s and earning a lot of clout in the process. It is that clout that has helped him enlist features from some of the hardest MCs in rap right now and if you needed proof, this new track is a exhibit A.
