B. Cool-Aid: Cnt Go Back (Tell Me) + LP News

Sticking with that same school of soulful raps, B. Cool-Aid are also on the verge of releasing a new album. Due at the end of this month, Leather Blvd. is the follow up to their 2017 offering, BRWN, and it looks set to exceed the expectations set by its predecessor. There are a couple of glimpses into the album available already, including the feature-heavy, Cnt Go Back, which sees Siifu and Ahwlee enlisting the assistance of Liv.e, Butcher Brown, Jimetta Rose, V.C.R and Maurice II. Give it a listen below, then head to Bandcamp to grab a pre-order before the 31 March drop.

Slim’s Pickings 2022 Pt. 2

Following on from last week’s continued roundup of some of my favourite releases from 2022, I’m back with what I thought was going to be my final selection. The original plan was to cover 30 EPs and albums, but as time has gone on my mind has decided to trigger more musical memories from the year. Add to that the fact that the last breaths of 2022 brought us a few more releases and I realise now that I could easily do a top 40 (shout out to 80’s Sunday evenings on Radio One). So without further ado, here are my next ten choices, and as usual they arrive in no particular order beyond the sequence my memory brought them to the surface. The third and final instalment will follow shortly.

Quelle Chris ft. MoRuf & Pink Siifu: The Sky Is Blue Because The Sunset Is Red

Just one of the many beautiful moments to be found on Quelle Chris’s most recent album, DEATHFAME, which was given life earlier this month. The Sky Is Blue… sees Quelle once again joining forces with Chris Keys, who co-produces the track alongside Knxwledge. He is also joined on the mic by MoRuf and Pink Siifu, who bring even more pleasantries to an already satisfying song. The video was made by Jabari Canada. DEATHFAME is out now via Mello Music Group.

Steel Tipped Dove: Call Me When You’re Outside (Stream)

After well and truly getting the world excited with a teaser from his album, yesterday marked the full release for Steel Tipped Dove. Having amassed a list of features to make the average underground rap fan weep tears of joy, Dove went on to craft a selection of beats that each marry perfectly with their guest stars. As well as the previously shared, NFT, featuring The Koreatown Oddity and billy woods, there are also cuts with SKECH185, Fatboi Sharif, SHIRT, ELUCID, KeiyaA, Fat Tony, Pink Siifu and Fielded, as well as a few more with woods. You can experience a taste of the joys available below and then head to Bandcamp to show your support.

Pink Siifu: GUMBO’! (Stream)

Another full bodied reminder of why Pink Siifu is one of the best artists doing their thing right now, with the arrival of his latest album. GUMBO’! follows on from Siifu’s two brilliant projects with Fly Anakin, as he shifts back into solo mode, but with an abundance of guests in tow. There’s a nice variety of flavours on offer too, from more energised joints like Wayans Bros., to the smooth goodness of tracks like the Alchemist-produced, Living Proof (Family). Literally too many contributing artists to list here, but you can experience the full breadth of the project below, then check Bandcamp for downloads and more info.

Pink Siifu & Fly Anakin ft. ZelooperZ, MAVI & Koncept Jack$on: Tha Divide

I’m still riding the wave from their debut collaboration, so to be blessed with more new music from Pink Siifu and Fly Anakin so soon, feels too good to be true. It is true though and it comes in the form of their new $mokebreak EP, which captures the same chemistry as its predecessor. For instant proof of this you can check their latest video, for Tha Divide, which also features some superb features from ZelooperZ, MAVI and Koncept Jack$on. The EP is out now and is available to stream / download from the usual spots.
