Beards and hip hop are two things that are close to my heart, so it’s a great pleasure for me to be able to bring you the premiere of the latest video from Dr Syntax and Pete Cannon. Facial Hair is the next track to be lifted off their recent EP, The Tonic 2, and as the name suggests, it serves as an ode to the follicles which grace our faces, in all their varying styles. The video was made by Luke Glover. The Tonic 2 is available to download now via Bandcamp.
Absolute beast of a video from Dirty Dike as he celebrates the release of his latest album. Rex 01 features a whole lot of talented cats, as the Dikestar calls up Inja, Killa P and Foreign Beggars to get busy over a DnB tinted banger from Pete Cannon. It’s one of many gems to be found on Acrylic Snail, Dike’s first proper release in three years and probably my favourite album of his (I’m calling it already). You can experience the album in all its glory below and you can grab a physical over at the High Focus store. Continue reading “Dirty Dike ft. Inja, Killa P & Foreign Beggars: Rex 01 + Album Stream”
Dr Syntax and Pete Cannon keeping things fresh with a new video for a track taken from this year’s earlier release, Let’s Talk. Just One More features footage from cult 70’s psychological thriller, Wake in Fright. Let’s Talk is out now on Tactical Thinking Entertainment.
Dirty Dike returns a new single, this time teaming up with your favourite cult leader, Lee Scott. The two trade verses over a differently rugged beat from Pete Cannon and the whole thing is wrapped up nicely with a slick video from AboveGround – a video which details what would probably be classed as a crazy night out for your average person, but for these two I’m pretty sure it’s the standard. You can stream/download Woah here and stay tuned for the new album, Acrylic Snail, dropping soon on High Focus.
Dr Syntax and Pete Cannon return with their second EP of the year and the follow up to their 2017 release, The Tonic. Humour is the main player on the EP, as is usually the case with the good doctor, plus some typically strong production from Pete Cannon. The duo are currently on a promotional tour for the EP, so keep an eye out for that passing through your town and also stay tuned for a new video from the EP dropping shortly, filmed by yours truly. You can stream The Tonic 2 below and downloads/physicals are available from Bandcamp. Continue reading “Dr Syntax & Pete Cannon: The Tonic 2 EP (Stream)”
It’s been a long time coming, but yesterday we were finally treated to the full release of the new album from UK favourite, Dabbla. Any regular visitors to my blog will know that I have been championing the album since its coming was announced some months ago. And with good reason because the whole project is a treat for the ears, packed with a standard of lyricism and production high enough to bring the devil himself to tears.
There are plenty of stellar features too from the likes of Rag’N’Bone Man, Eva Lazarus, Illaman, LDZ and Jam Baxter, but the main star is Dabbla who seems to be at his hungriest yet on Death Moves; quite a feat for an MC who has been giving his all to every release since his debut with LDZ.
You can stream the full album below and there is also a brand new video for the title track, produced by Dirty Dike, Pete Cannon and GhostTown. The video itself was made by Obese Aesthetics – the dons behind the hugely successful Psychoville video, from Dabbla’s previous album. You can grab digital/physical copies of the album over at the Potent Funk store. Continue reading “Dabbla: Death Moves (Album Stream & Video)”
Another entertaining video from Dr Syntax and Pete Cannon as they present the latest track to be lifted from their Let’s Talk album. Stay tuned for their new EP, Tonic 2, coming soon. Let’s Talk is available now via Bandcamp.
Another visual smash from Lunar C’s recent debut album, Dirtbrain. Running is produced by Pete Cannon and the video was made by KillMoney, who is fast becoming one of my favourite filmmakers thanks to his work with Lunar. Dirtbrain is out now.
Inja recently released his debut album on Hospital Records and in short, it is a triumph. It perfectly demonstrates not only his dexterity on the mic, but also the different styles that drum & bass can encompass within its own parameters. Her Room is just one of the gems to be found on the album and is one of a few produced by fellow Hospital resident, Pete Cannon.
Inja said of the track, “When you realise you’re living a lie and the only escape is to completely escape. Exit, run get out, go missing, whatever. Sometimes we all have to lock off the past, live with the memories and fly. Change the locks and don’t turn back.” Blank Pages is out now on all the usual platforms.
The UK keeps them coming today with the latest video release from Dr Syntax & Pete Cannon. Sock It To ‘Em is lifted from their recent Let’s Talk album and features sound system serial killer, Gardna. The video was made by Bing Bong. You can grab a copy of the album over on Bandcamp.
