The Eagle Has Landed is the latest track to be lifted from Verses Bang’s most recent project, Cardigans & Calories. As usual it’s his old friend and regular collaborator, Oozhe, behind the boards and the video was made by Odyssey Film Co. Cardigans & Calories is out now on all the usual platforms. The new album from Sylla B was released on Friday and marks a honing of skills for the Bristol-based MC. His last few releases have all demonstrated a growth in confidence and penmanship, leaving The Walls Have Eyes feeling like the culmination of all that progress. Straight up grime bangers sit next to more thought-provoking tracks, with the variety of styles strengthened by Sylla’s production choices. There are beats from Oozhe, xeno, DROG Beats, Moody Lew, Just Sayin, Yung Toro and sam.makes.beats, along with features from Toro, Gabriel Waves, Moody Lew and Solo Jane. This is a very strong release from an MC whose talent refuses to let him go unnoticed and one who’s only going to keep getting better. You can stream the album in full below and downloads are available from Bandcamp.
Nice little collaboration here, as TrollGang producer, Oozhe, calls on the formidable flows of VRBL’s Sylla B, for Grit Teeth.
Freshness from Verses Bang, as he readies us for the launch of his new EP. Plethora is produced by fellow TrollGang ally, Oozhe. Cardigans & Calories is out on 11 October.
Starting off the week on a high note, as I bring you an exclusive new joint from TrollGang representative, Skrabl. Lion of the Zodiac sees the Wordplay Records artist teaming up with his old friend and fellow TG member, Oozhe, with the duo delivering a piano laced, lyrical bonanza, perfectly highlighting Skrabl’s style of vocal architecture. You can hear Lion of the Zodiac below, with streams available on all the other usual platforms.
Sylla B is due to hit us with a new album very soon and last week he treated us to a taste of what he’s got lined up. Spooky sees the Bristol-based MC cooking up a murky little number, with TrollGang production ace, Oozhe. Stay tuned for more news on the album coming soon.
Verses Bang is back with the next video from his most recent release, featuring a budget take on the excessive flossin’ of some of the more clichéd rap videos. Everything Kosher is produced by Oozhe and can be found on Dressed To Kill… Myself, which is out now. The video was made by Odyssey Film Co.
The release of Skrabl’s latest album, Wood for the Trees, is a notable occasion on two counts. Firstly it’s the debut release for the newly formed Wordplay Records and secondly, the album signifies a change in Skrabl’s sound. He’s still very much the same MC in terms of skillful wordplay and dexterity, but the overall production has taken a different turn with elements of trap creeping into certain tracks, as well as a general air of new wave throughout the whole project.
Which is all fine by me because if you can do something well and it still sounds banging, then go for it. I’m all for artists exploring new avenues in terms of defying their usual, often self-imposed, artistic restrictions. The production is handled in full by fellow TrollGang representative, Oozhe, and save from a solo feature from final TG member, Verses Bang, the rest of the album allows Skrabl to take centre stage and flourish. Wood for the Trees is available to stream below and you can cop physicals/downloads over on Bandcamp. Continue reading “Skrabl: Wood for the Trees (Stream)”
Strong start to Skrabl’s new LP, as he releases the first video from the project. Wood For The Trees is the title track and is produced by fellow TROLLGANG member, Oozhe. The album is due for release on 25 January, on TG’s new label home, Wordplay Records.
Verses Bang recently announced that he is one of the first artists to be signed to the newly formed Wordplay Records label, alongside his TrollGang associates, Skrabl and Oozhe. Hanger In My Coffin is the latest track to be lifted from last year’s Dressed To Kill… Myself and features the forever dope tones of SonnyJim, with Oozhe on the beat. Keep an ear out for a lot more music coming from the TG boys real soon.
