Sleep Sinatra x Ohbliv: Shadow Self (Stream)

New material from Sleep Sinatra on rotation, as he connects with Mutant Academy representative, Ohbliv, for their long-awaited Shadow Self LP. Predominantly a solo vocal affair, where Sinatra continues to outline himself as one of the more dedicated rappers of the era, there are also some notable guests.

Gangster Doodles: Gangster Music Vol​.​2 (Stream)

Pleased to see the full release of the latest Gangster Doodles curated extravaganza. The infamous cartoonist has selected a wealth of talented types for the project, with MCs and producers from both sides of the Atlantic, and from all walks of rap life, rubbing shoulders on the tracklist. The compilation weighs in at 28 tracks, so a track by track breakdown would be too much, but to give you a decent overview, there are cuts from the likes of Black Milk, Zeroh, Ohbliv, Gaslamp Killer, King Kashmere, Lil B and Lord Apex, to name a very select few. Fly Anankin fires off a new loosie, as he teams up with Brooklyn MC, Medhane, over some fly production from Ohbliv.

Fly Anakin: Chess Pieces + LP Stream

New music from the Mutant Academy roster, as Fly Anakin unveils a new video from his recent album. On Chess Pieces, Anakin reminds us exactly why he’s been praised by critics and legends alike, as he delivers a potent dose of intricate bars over some choice drum-driven production from Foisey. The track is taken from the album, at the end of the day., which emerged last month and features a refreshingly weighty list of 16 tracks. Production comes from usual spots, with contributions from the likes of Graymatter, Ohbliv, Sadhu Gold, Anakin himself and of course, Foisey. Ohbliv & Sadhugold: Ra(w) Material (Stream)

Strong collaboration here, as Mutant Academy’s Ohbliv and Nature Sounds affiliate, Sadhugold, unite to form Czardust. With The Ra(w) Material, they have created an album that is the perfect platform for their respective talents. Ohbliv: Give Thanks (Stream)

Ohbliv has been on my radar ever since I first heard his production work on various Mutant Academy projects. Give Thanks is his latest beat selection and is a prime example of why he’s not only a favourite of mine, but also of the likes of Fly Anakin, Armand Hammer and Koncept Jack$on. Ohbliv sees this new release as a follow up to his contribution to the Baker’s Dozen series, which is put together by Fat Beats. For the recording he drew for a number of production tools, including his favourite – the SP-404. Give Thanks is available to stream in full below.

KONCEPT JACK$ON ft. Monday Night: NeedSumTime

Koncept Jack$son is hitting us with another new project next month, following on from last year’s excellent Mutant Root release. NeedSumTime is the first leak from the album and sees the Richmond MC team up with Mutant Academy favourite, Ohbliv, as well as another MC called Monday Night. The beat is a real throwback special and definitely piques my interest for how the rest of the album is going to sound. Thot Rap: Chapter 1 will also feature Mach-Hommy and Quadry, plus production credits from August Fanon, Dibia$e and Koncept himself. Big Kahuna OG: Tatted On Her

Fresh visuals from the Mutant Academy family, as Big Kahuna OG brings us a new video for Tatted On Her. The track is produced by Ohbliv and is lifted from the recent Big Fly 3 EP.

Ohbliv: Soulphonic (Stream)

Fresh stack of instrumentals here from Ohbliv, as he treats us to his latest release, Soulphonic. The Mutant Academy affiliate describes the music as speaking from the soul, hence the title choice and the beats themselves definitely reflect that quality. Big Kahuna OG & Fly Anakin: Big Fly 3 (Stream)

Not content with dominating 2018 with a string of solid releases, Mutant Academy are back with the first instalment for 2019, from Big Kahuna OG and Fly Anakin. Big Fly 3, follows on from the previous chapter which saw its release back in September. It’s the same M.O. as the two MCs trade bars over five tracks, featuring production from Ohbliv and TUAMIE.
