Zilla Rocca: Future Former Rapper (Stream)

Good to see the long-awaited solo album from Zilla Rocca has finally been given life. Future Former Rapper is the culmination of a career which spans 13 years, all of them as a totally independent artist – which is no mean feat given how many fellow independents have been swallowed up or broken beyond repair during that same period.
The album is the perfect showcase for the talents that have kept Zilla afloat through those years and finds him accompanied by some of the artists that he has been associated with during that same time frame.
Guest spots are held by the likes of Armand Hammer, Serengeti and fellow Wrecking Crew representative, Curly Castro, as well as a bunch of high-end production credits from Steel Tipped Dove, Messiah Musik, Disco Vietnam and Small Pro. Future Former Rapper is ready to stream below, with downloads available via Bandcamp. Continue reading “Zilla Rocca: Future Former Rapper (Stream)”

New noir hop heaters from Zilla Rocca, as he provides a little something to tide us over until his Future Former Rapper album drops. I already explained the reasons for my hype about the forthcoming Career Crooks album, from Zilla Rocca & Small Pro; a project that has been anticipated by fans of the duo since they started talking it up many moons ago. Now the time is nearly upon us, but in the meantime they have only gone and released a whole other EP for us to enjoy while these last few days pass by. Zilla Rocca ft. El Malito & Margel the Sophant: Lemon Drop

South Philly MC, Zilla Rocca, returns with a new single, inspired by the noir detective novels he is so fond of. It’s actually one novel in particular – The Song is You by Megan Abbott – and deals with that staple of all murky stories: the femme fatale. Produced by Schadillac and featuring backing vocals from El Malito & Margel the Sophant, Lemon Drop is available to stream below. Continue reading “Zilla Rocca ft. El Malito & Margel the Sophant: Lemon Drop”

Zilla Rocca: ’98 Avirex Flow

avirex

Zilla Rocca dropped this new track the other day, as a homage to the Five Percenter style of rap he came up with when he was starting out as an MC. The Wrecking Crew affiliate uses an old Son Raw beat he’s had stashed away for a few years and smashes it in his usual style. You can stream ’98 Avirex Flow below. Continue reading “Zilla Rocca: ’98 Avirex Flow”

Zilla Rocca & The Shadow Boxers ft. Geechi Suede: Chi-Town Drumroll (Remix)

Following on from the excellent interview with Zilla Rocca I posted yesterday, thought it only right to hit you with another one of his remixes.
This time it’s for the 2014 track Chi-Town Drumroll, which was originally included on the No Vacation For Murder LP and features none other than Camp-Lo legend, Geechi Suede. Continue reading “Zilla Rocca & The Shadow Boxers ft. Geechi Suede: Chi-Town Drumroll (Remix)”
