A beast of a posse cut here, masterminded by Bristol-based producer, Sam Krats. For the aptly titled, Culture, Krats has brought together legends from across the Atlantic, thanks to a selection of homegrown talent and a guest spot from Juice Crew veteran, Craig G. Raps from this side of the water are provided by MysDiggi, Gee Bag, Ramson Badbonez and Phoenix Da Icefire, as well as some technical assistance from Jazz T. The vinyl edition also features a heavy remix courtesy of Da Beatminerz. You can find more info on that via Revorg Records.

Tom Caruana: Brewing Up (Stream)
In my seemingly endless game of catch-up, I’m shining a light on the latest from Tom Caruana, which surfaced back in March. Thanks to Tom’s dedication to his craft and his flawless ear for pairing rappers and beats, you already know that any release he puts his name to is going to be praiseworthy before you even press play. Brewing Up carries on that long-standing tradition, thanks to another selection of finely crafted production gems and an impressive line-up of featured artists from across the UK. The list is long but to give you an idea of the pedigree of rappers involved, there are tracks with Melanin 9, Lunar C, Juga-Naut, MysDiggi, Scorzayzee and Skuff, to name but a few. You can get a taste of the whole project for yourself below and then head over to Bandcamp to cop a download, or one of the physical formats that are available.

Strong debut here from the newly formed Deuce Deuce Records, as MysDiggi and Downstroke unite for Make The Cut. As you would expect from two artists as entrenched in the culture as they are, it’s a winning combo with the Downstroke’s production giving even more life to Mys’s already energised flows. The track is also available on download and 12″ vinyl edition.
DJ MK: London Underground 2002 (Stream)
Back in the early 2000’s, the hip hop scene in this country was burgeoning at an exceptional rate. Building on the foundation laid by the likes of Task Force and Mud Family a few years before, artists like Jehst, Supa T and Klashnekoff were leading the charge on a new era of UK hip hop. In the midst of this, while the internet was still turning into the monster it is today, there were a few mixtape series that kept fans like me stocked up with freestyles, exclusives and remixes from some of the best artists at work at the time.
Foreign Beggars: Matriarchy (Stream)
As the end of the decade looms ever closer, so does the final act from Foreign Beggars as they release their last ever album, Matriarchy. It’s some what of a return to their roots, as the ever-innovative crew depart from the more genre-bending sound they have cultivated over the last decade or so, and circle back to the music that first introduced them to the world. Produced in full by Seemore Beats, it’s an album that feels full of love and hope, which is welcome today more than ever, and it also plays like the perfect goodbye ofrom one of the most influential and respected groups to ever exist. The features are reflective of the respect the Beggars command, with Maverick Sabre, Jammer, Blak Twang, DRS, MysDiggi and Dr Syntax among the guest spots. The full album is ready to stream below and downloads can be found over on Bandcamp.
MysDiggi: They Ain’t Ready
Another great video from one of the most competent and consistent MCs to ever emerge from these shores. They Ain’t Ready is the latest track to be taken from MysDiggi’s Tip Of Da Mysberg 3 album, which was released towards the end of last year. This particular track is produced by Logan and the snow capped video was made by Ash ‘Pocket Rocket’ Udin. TODM3 is available now via Bandcamp.
Mister and Curt Cataract: Approaching Land (Stream)
Finally, after 12 years of planning and brewing, the new album from Mister and Curt Cataract has been given life. What began as a series of friendly music related exchanges on MySpace, has now evolved into a fantastic full-length project, stretching across the breadth of the Atlantic. I already shared one of the tracks from the album last month, the excellent title track featuring Hemlock Ernst and I am pleased to confirm that the rest of the album follows in the same vein. As well as the stellar appearance from Ernst, there are also equally strong features from the likes of Chris Orrick, MysDiggi and Oliver Sudden. Cataract’s beats are sublime throughout and in Mister he appears to have found the ideal voice for his production. The album is available to stream in full below and there are plenty of physicals to cop over on Bandcamp, including a vinyl edition.

Pitch 92: 3rd Culture (Stream)
Another blinding debut release right here, as Manchester-based producer, Pitch 92, drops his highly anticipated 3rd Culture album. It’s a debut for a producer who has long been a part of the UK scene, making a name for himself off the back of a string of solid collaborations alongside a number of artists including Verb T and more recently, DRS. He released his Lost in Space EP on High Focus last year to critical acclaim, but now he takes things up to new heights with this full-length project. Pitch 92 ft. King Kashmere, Verb T & MysDiggi: HumanoidÂ
New album on the horizon from Pitch 92 and he’s kicking it off in style with the lead single. Humanoid features Verb T, Kashmere and MysDiggi, unbelievably marking the first time that Kash and Mys have appeared on a track together. The album, 3rd Culture, is out on High Focus on 28 February.
MysDiggi: Tip Of Da Mysberg 3 (Stream)
A welcome return for one of the best loved voices in UK hip hop, as MysDiggi blesses us with the third instalment from his Tip Of Da Mysberg series. Considering Part 2 was given life way back in 2006, this latest chapter is long overdue but it’s not as if the artist FKA Mystro has been resting on his laurels in the interim. There have been ad campaigns for Sainsbury’s, Subway and Mozilla, as well as an EP and an album, plus numerous tours and live performances with the likes of Pete Tong and Smokey Joe & The Kid. That brings us to now and this new release, which should serve as a reminder of just how gifted the man is on the mic. Only three features – Ash the Author, Gee Bag and Miss Baby Sol – leaving the majority of the main stage clear for Mys to work his magic. Production comes from a few notable people, including Twisted Roots, DNA, Logan and K3ith Price. The whole thing is available to stream below and you can grab a download over on Bandcamp.
