Always happy to see the arrival of new music from Booda French and this time he’s teamed up with fellow Ipswich don, Muckaniks, resulting in this drum-heavy banger. Big is a take on the classic flossin’ joints that have been a staple of rap ever since Big Bank Hank told us about his bodyguards and two big cars. You can stream the track in full below and downloads are available over on Bancamp. Continue reading “Booda French: Big”
I recently had a chat with Muckaniks, a music producer from Ipswich in England. He has a propensity for dark, bass heavy production which has earned him credits on projects with the likes of Ocean Wisdom, Lunar C and Dizzee Rascal. We spoke about his production methods, his roots and how he came to work with those notable artists.
Booda French makes a welcome return to my blog, with his latest single. It’s Always Raining in Ipswich takes inspiration from one of his best-loved TV shows, as he gets busy over a typically filthy beat from Ocean Wisdom favourite & fellow Ipswich native, Muckaniks. The track is out now on EatGood Records.
Fresh video from Rye Shabby, lifted from his Die Shabby EP, which was released back in May. Concrete Camouflage sees Shabby teaming up with Muckaniks, who brings his normal dirty, menacing brand of production to the table. The EP is out now on In The Balance Records.
Double whammy from Lunar C as he drops two videos in one from his recent Dirtbrain album. The first track is Shabang, with production from Muckaniks and that’s followed by Shallow – a personal favouite of mine – which is produced by his old mate, HashFinger. Both videos come courtesy of Kill Money. Dirtbrain is out now.
“That’s a mixtape, album’s coming soon” or variations of it, is something I’ve seen Lunar C have to repeat over and over again on Twitter for the past few months, ever since he dropped Jake (his mixtape). But now the torment is almost over as he readies himself to finally drop his album and shut his baying fans up in the process.
No surprises that the first leak from the album is a fucking dirty banger, with Lunar’s lyricism reminding anyone who might have forgotten, why he delivered and continues to deliver, such a devastating blow in battle rap and beyond. Skwolla is produced by Ocean Wisdom favourite, Muckaniks and the video was made by KillMoney. The album, Dirtbrain, is due for release on 11 May.
Unless you have been living on another planet, you will have probably heard the fanfare in the run-up to Ocean Wisdom’s second album, Wizville. Having scored such a huge hit with his first venture in 2016, the bar was set high for his sophomore release. When the tracklist was released a few weeks ago, the names involved made it seem like that bar was going to be easily reached, thanks to features from the likes of Rodney P, Chester P, Dizzee Rascal and Method Man.
Ocean Wisdom returns with another cut from his upcoming sophomore release, Wizville, which is set for release early next year. Birck or Bat is produced by Muckaniks and the video was shot by Craig Capone. Downloads/streams are available from the usual spots.
Rye Shabby continues to make his mark with the release of a new video for his track, Kate Moss. It is the next cut from his new Arthur Lager EP and it’s produced by Muckaniks. The video was made by Aboveground.
Crazy wordplay and a certain amount of silliness go hand in hand, on this new EP from Ipswich MCs Tooks & Snubes – aka Two-Can and Snubo. It’s been ruminating for a while, but finally saw the light of day this week. Six tracks long with production by Muckaniks & Two-Can, you can stream the project below.
