Continuing the mash up theme with this new release from the capital, as the two worlds of gangsta rap and roots regae collide. Mobb Marley fuses together the notoriously rough and rugged lyrics from QB’s finest, Mobb Deep, with the infectious rhythms of Bob Marley’s reggae instrumentals. The project was put together by Large Gary AKA Gi3MO of Rum Committee fame. If it sounds like a unlikely pairing, it is, but that’s not to say it doesn’t work. There are some great moments on there and the overall vibe that the juxtaposition creates is well worth exploring. Conway X Prodigy: Hell Still On Earth
One of the biggest MCs of the moment, hooks up with one of best known vets for this two track release. Conway and Prodigy do their thing on two typically hard Daringer beats, including one called Rodney Little (shout out to Richard Price).
Havoc & The Alchemist: Maintain
So Havoc and The Alchemist have gone and made an album together. The Silent Partner is out on Babygrande Records next month and in the run-up to the release, the two rap legends have dropped this beast of a track. Check out Maintain and stay tuned for more news on the album very soon.
ZR vs. QB: Zilla Rocca Remixes the Best of The Bridge
Can’t fault the new project Zilla Rocca has released, as he takes on some of the best rap to come out of the Queensbridge area and gives them all the remix treatment. As a founder/pioneer of noir hop, you know what to expect from these tracks and I am happy to say there is not a single note of disappointment on there.
