R.A.P. Ferreira: Leaving Hell

Another tantalising drop from R.A.P. Ferreira, as he delivers the next single from his forthcoming album. Leaving Hell is the next piece of the puzzle that is Purple Moonlight Pages, which is entirely produced by The Jefferson Park Boys aka Kenny Segal, Mike Parvizi and Mr Carmack. The video, including the excellent animation, was created by Ben Clarkson. Stay tuned for the full album when it’s released on 6 March on Ruby Yacht.

R.A.P. Ferreira: Doldrums

Good to hear that there is a new album on the way from Ruby Yacht’s R.A.P. Ferreira (FKA Milo). Purple Moonlight Pages is arriving in the not too distant future and features full production from The Jefferson Park Boys (Kenny Segal, Mike Parvizi and Mr Carmack). Doldrums is the first peek at what’s to come, with Ferreira’s typically poetic flows merging with some jazzy off-kilter production and some stellar cuts from 3x scratch world champion, DJ Prolifix. No release date for the album yet but expect to hear more on that soon. Continue reading “R.A.P. Ferreira: Doldrums”

R.A.P. Ferreira: stressrunstheworld

Fresh off the reels comes the latest video from R.A.P. Ferreira aka (fka?) Milo. stressrunstheworld is the second sliver of AV delight from the new mixtape, which in somewhat typical Milo style is called The Truly Ancient and Original Left-handed Styles of the Hoodwinkers and Penny Pinchers. It boasts, among other things, features from Theodor Black, Mike Ladd and Hemlock Ernst.

Milo: budding ornithologists are weary of tired analogies (Stream)

Pleased to see the birth of yet another new project from Milo, an artist who only seems to be content when he’s in the lab, which is fine by me given the consistent high quality of his material. Following on the not too distant footsteps of his recent Nostrum Grocers collaboration with ELUCID, he now returns with a solo effort with a title that appears to have been picked from a line on the Nostrum album – budding ornithologists are weary of tired analogies. The track names continue in the same vein with excellent titles like the esteemed saboteur reggie baylor hosts an evening at the scallops hotel, aubergine cloak and thinking while eating a handful of almonds. Of the album itself, Milo explains “this album doesn’t have an arc or a point or a moral to preach. it’s a contemporary rhythm and poetry album made by someone who loves the form and enjoys creating what they want to hear in the world”, which is rather beautiful when you think about it. You can stream the full project below and downloads are available now over on Bandcamp, along with some more background info. Nostrum Grocers: Nostrum Grocers (Stream)

Excellent new project here from two of rap’s more unique voices, as Milo and ELUCID unite on Nostrum Grocers. Borne from a concept that first came to light back in 2015, before gaining more ground last year and finally being given life last week. The album boasts 10 tracks of sublime, think-twice lyricism, which you can hear in all its glory below. Downloads are available via Bandcamp. Milo: Take Advantage of the Naysayer

Behold the latest video to emerge from Milo’s excellent 2017 LP, Who Told You to Think??!!?!?!?! Plenty of mental imagery and philosophical sparks in the track, which Milo describes as a song he wrote about pivoting on fools.
The track was produced by Illingsworth and the video was made in full by Ben Clarkson. Milo is on tour in the UK this month, alongside Open Mike Eagle. I would advise catching the show if they pass through your city. Who Told You to Think ??!!?!?!?! is out now on Ruby Yacht.
