I took a break over the festive/festering season so I’ve got a hell of a lot to catch up on. Let’s start with the latest release from one of Manchester’s more boisterous collectives, LEVELZ, as they return with Rainy Day (LVL 50). The track features vocal work from Chimpo, Fox, Skittles and Sparkz, plus production from Metrodome and Bricks. Rainy Day is available to download now via Bandcamp.

New music from LEVELZ, as the Manchester collective return with the LVL 47 aka Warning Call. This time round mic duties are handled by Sparkz, Chimpo and Black Josh, with Metrodome and Sparkz on the beat. As usual you can grab a free download over on Bandcamp. The video was made by Tarnish Vision.

Last week saw the release of the latest album from Black Josh. Yung Sweg Lawd is arguably his strongest work to date, with the Manchester MC exploring a wide range of production styles, while managing to sound at home on all of them. The production is handled by a host of talent, including fellow LEVELZ members Biome and Metrodome, as well as the likes of Jack Danz, Reklews, dylantheinfamous, Sly Moon and Pitch 92. There are also a bunch of strong features, including Milkavelli, Truthos Mufasa, Lee Scott, ELIZA and Sniff. The album is available to stream below and you can also watch the latest video from the project for the Skepta produced banger, Ciggaweed. Downloads are available via Blah. There are also downloads available via Bandcamp. The animation comes courtesy of Stemfour Visual.

Cut Em Loose is the latest video from The Mouse Outfit and the next track to be lifted from their recent Jagged Tooth Crook album. The track features Berry Blacc, KinKai and Layfullstop, with production from Chini, Metrodome and Defty.

Today saw the arrival of the latest video from The Mouse Outfit’s new album. Late Night Doors features long-term collaborators, Dubbul O and Ellis Meade, as well as the band’s more recent addition, Berry Blacc. The track was produced by Chini and Metrodome. The album, Jagged Tooth Crook, is out now on all the usual platforms.

Kickstart your Monday with the new video from LEVELZ. Reach For The Sky is a lot more subdued than their last single, Front Face, with Fox, Skittles, Chunky, T-Man and Truthos Mufasa dropping their bars over a nice live bass-laced beat from Metrodome, Bricks and Skittles. The bass comes courtesy of Ben Price, who you may know from his work with Jenna & the G’s. The video was shot on location in India. You can get a free download of the track via Bandcamp.

It’s Friday, the sun is shining, Trump is getting the British welcome he deserves and we can finally indulge ourselves in the debut album from Children of Zeus. It has been a very long time coming and any regular visitors to my blog will know the work that the Manchester duo have put in over the years to get to this point. Weighing in at 13 tracks, Travel Light is everything I was anticipating. The MCR family vibe is as strong as ever, with guest spots from LayFullStop, [KSR], Metrodome and DRS, plus further production credits from Juga-Naut, Sebb Bash and Beat Butcha. Their trademark hip hop-soul sound is the most prevalent on the album, but there are elements of reggae and jazz at work too, making Travel Light a highly ambitious album, but one that works incredibly well. You can stream it in full below, with downloads and physicals available via Bandcamp. Read the rest of this entry »

Jagged Tooth Crook is out now on all the usual platforms.

The Mouse Outfit are on the cusp of releasing their third studio album, Jagged Tooth Crook and the next piece of the project has now been given life. It’s another collab with fast-rising start IAMDDB, as she teams up with Manchester spitter, KinKai, for Feeling High. The track was produced by Chini, Metrodome and Defty.
