A new video birthed from the recent Eahwee EP, which sees the London producer teaming up with the forever consistent, Melanin 9. As well as the obvious musical allure, the video also features some visually arresting animation courtesy of RUFFMERCY. Solitude is out now via Astral Black.
In my seemingly endless game of catch-up, I’m shining a light on the latest from Tom Caruana, which surfaced back in March. Thanks to Tom’s dedication to his craft and his flawless ear for pairing rappers and beats, you already know that any release he puts his name to is going to be praiseworthy before you even press play. Brewing Up carries on that long-standing tradition, thanks to another selection of finely crafted production gems and an impressive line-up of featured artists from across the UK. The list is long but to give you an idea of the pedigree of rappers involved, there are tracks with Melanin 9, Lunar C, Juga-Naut, MysDiggi, Scorzayzee and Skuff, to name but a few. You can get a taste of the whole project for yourself below and then head over to Bandcamp to cop a download, or one of the physical formats that are available.Continue reading “Tom Caruana: Brewing Up (Stream)”
Another solid release from Ric Branson (fka Ricochet), as he delivers his new album, The Technician. Building on the foundations he laid back in the early 00’s alongside Ultra and A.H.Fly, the UK veteran displays all the signs of a still hungry MC across these 16 tracks.
He’s in good company too, as he’s joined on the album by Melanin 9, Ray Vendetta, Cons and Tesla’s Ghost, plus some tight production contributions from A.H.Fly, Evil Ed, Cons, Juice and Giallo Point. Also keep an ear out for the follow up to Ric’s classic cut from back in the day, Mad Runningz. The Technician is available to stream below and you can find downloads over on Bandcamp. As reported last week, Micall Parknsun and Mr Thing have combined their ample hip hop talents to create a new album. The album was officially released today on Village Live, along with a video for one of the many gems you can find on there. 8 Bricks features Melanin 9 and the video was shot by Dfacer. Finish What We Started is available now via the Village Live store.
Two legends unite on the latest release from Village Live. Micall Parknsun and Mr Thing, both hugely respected in their own right, first blessed us with a single in 2017 and have now combined their ample talents to bring us a whole album. The aptly titled Finish What We Started is produced entirely by Mr Thing, with Parky on mic duties. He is joined by some familiar names, with Konny Kon, Melanin 9, Joker Starr & Essa fka Yungun all blessing the album with verses. The album went up for pre-order last night and there is a promo mix from Mr Thing which you can listen to below. Continue reading “Micall Parknsun & Mr Thing: Finish What We Started (Promo Mix)”
I’ve been struggling to write more than a couple of paragraphs for the past few months. Various reasons, too boring or personal to go into now, but it does mean I have failed to shine a light on some decent projects that have been given life in the interim. I wanted to do a bit of a catch up to make amends for my slack attitude and also to bring some thoroughly good music to your attention. Continue reading “The Insomniac Section (Don’t Sleep)”
Great new video from arguably one of this country’s most accomplished lyricists. Melanin 9, the Triple Darkness affiliate and MC’s MC is back with a new album soon. It’s his first in a while, but to prove he’s as dope as ever, check the new single Polaroid. The track features Karl Sage on the hook and it was produced by Walterwarm & Cowode. I have an interview with M9 coming to the blog soon, so stay tuned for that.
This has been one of my favourite tracks of the year ever since I heard Magna Carta for the first time, a fews weeks ago. Continue reading “Melanin 9 ft. Roc Marciano “White Russian” Prod. by Anatomy”
