Wrecking Crew: Steel’s Kitchen (Stream)

Wrecking Crew assemble in full for their new project, which channels the spirit of the crew and label compilations that came before them. Every aspect of the album is on point, from the production picks and the artists they’re paired with, down to the song titles and artwork. Some stand out moments for me, include the Alaska assisted ShrapKnel track, Broken Handstyle, which features some rousing production from Steel Tipped Dove, and one of two fresh new Career Crooks joints, Looks Easy When it Works, which is further bolstered by Marcus Pinn’s precision cuts. The whole thing is worth your attention though and you can peruse it at your leisure below, with downloads, physicals and merch stacked up over on Bandcamp.

ShrapKnel ft. Zilla Rocca & Marcus Pinn: Poets Who Last

Good news for Wrecking Crew fans, as the Philly crew announce the imminent arrival of a new project. Steel’s Kitchen is due for release next month and will serve as a homage to influential mixtapes and compilations, like Soundbombing and Ryde or Die. Their own version will feature new tracks from the whole gang, including fresh material from Career Crooks and the lead single from ShrapKnel, Poets Who Last, which also features Zilla Rocca and Marcus Pinn. In addition there is some hypnotic production from DOOF, who is among a strong array of producers involved with the project, including Small Professor, Disco Vietnam and Steel Tipped Dove. You can hear Poets Who Last below and then get your pre-orders in for the 4 June release.
