Very happy to finally be able to bring you the new Baileys Brown solo LP in all its genre-defying glory. If you’re already familiar with Baileys Brown’s work, you will know he is a producer who is not afraid to venture outside the normal constraints of a genre and draw on musical influences from other areas, to create unique soundscapes which are among some of the most ambitious in the UK right now. When he found a home at Potent Funk it seemed like the ideal setting for his exploits, thanks to their already established love of ‘hybrid rap shit’ and with that in mind, Still Fresh serves as the perfect label debut. New music from the rap game gift that keeps on giving, as Lee Scott surprises us with a new 10 track instrumental project. I Can’t Figure Out How I Figured It All Out is a collection of beats that Lee has put together over the last few weeks, in part because of a sore throat and in part because he is one of those artists who can’t ever stop making music. You can stream the project below and downloads are available via Lee’s Bandcamp. Continue reading “Lee Scott: I Can’t Figure Out How I Figured It All Out (Stream)”
Next up we’ve got the debut album from Lyza Jane, which follows on from a string of singles and an EP with Sniff, which was one of last year’s highlights. I find it hard to pinpoint exactly what genres Lyza’s music fits into, as there are a lot of different influences at work, but hip hop definitely plays a big part in her inspiration. Housebound features appearances from Lee Scott, Black Josh and Danny Lover, with beats from Lee, Sniff and Lyza, who handles the majority of the production herself. You can hear the album in full below, with physicals and merch available via Bandcamp. Stay tuned for an interview with Lyza coming soon. Continue reading “Lyza Jane: Housebound (Stream)”
On the eve of her album release, Lyza Jane gifts us a fresh visual for the Indigo track which surfaced last week. The track features Lee Scott, both on vocals and production, and it is lifted from Housebound, which you can pre-order via Bandcamp.
New music from the always intriguing Nah Eeto, as she blesses us with her latest single. Mafu is produced by Lee Scott and the video was made by @therawwfilmmaker. No word on a full length from her yet, but I’m hoping something appears soon.
Today saw the release of a new video from the Mcabre Brothers. INABIT is produced by fellow Blah resident Jack Danz and the video was made by Grit Multimedia. The track is lifted from a new project – Hot Mess – from the duo which they put together on their recent tour. More news on that soon.
Start your week off the right way with the latest single from Blah vocalist, Lyza Jane. Indigo is the perfect vehicle for her soft touch vocals, thanks in part to Lee Scott’s production, who also drops in his own contribution on the mic. The single is the first single from Lyza’s upcoming Housebound album, which features a host of Blah talent including Black Josh and Danny Lover. Pre-orders are available now. Echoes of their 2014 Uvavu project on this new track from Bill Shakes, King Grubb and Lee Scott, as they reunite for theysay. But instead of Reklews on production, this time round the beat is provided by Kiyani. No word on whether this track is part of something larger, so for now just enjoy the loosie.
Milkavelli recently dropped a mini mix of new music, which features the 616 God finessing over a tight production selection from Nobodies Home – aka Lee Scott, Sniff and Jack Chard. The illustrations for the video (and accompanying merch) were done by J. Neilson.
Tell A Friend is the first video to be lifted from the new Mcabre Brothers EP of the same name. The video features Lee Scott and Milkavelli in some eerie part animated form, as well as some excellent production from Universal Soldiers favourite, A.H. Fly. The vinyl edition of Tell A Friend is available now via the Blah store, with the digital version following later this month.
