Words Hurt have returned with a surprise new EP, as a sort of follow-up to last November’s Soul Music For The Soulless LP. I say sort of follow-up because the songs were actually written and recorded before the Soul Music project, according to Alaska. He explained that The Attitude was created in the vein of a punk record, with shorter track lengths and more of a focus on hooks, essentially inspired by Group Sex by Circle Jerk. You can stream the EP below and downloads are available over on Bandcamp. Continue reading “Words Hurt: The Attitude”

Alaska: Interview
Alaska – he of Hangar 18, Atoms Family and more recently Words Hurt fame – released his new album today. This time he has teamed up with the producer PJ Katz and the pair have concocted a jazz-fuelled journey, with a whole bunch of different guests making their appearances along the way. I last spoke to Alaska back in 2016, when I interviewed him for Grown Up Rap, so I thought now would be a good time to have another chat about a few things, including the new record and reflecting on the past. There is also a new video from the album, which you can watch below.
Words Hurt: World’s Worst Life Coach
The homies over at The Witzard recently premiered the first track from the upcoming sophomore album from Words Hurt.
Following on from 2016’s Fuck That Pretty Boy Shit, rapper Alaska and producer Lang Vo have come up with 10 more hefty tracks of rap antidotes for the saturated mumble market.
The first track sees Alaska giving us some questionable life hacks, with a beat from Lang that has echoes of The Sideline in all the right ways. Continue reading “Words Hurt: World’s Worst Life Coach”
Words Hurt: Fuck That Pretty Boy Shit
You may remember me covering a couple of Words Hurt releases recently, well now they are back with a whole album: Fuck That Pretty Boy Shit. As the title indicates, the album is filled with enough bilious outpourings and misanthropic sentiments to make Charles Manson bop his head. Continue reading “Words Hurt: Fuck That Pretty Boy Shit”
Words Hurt: I Love People
Yesterday saw the release of the next single from Words Hurt’s upcoming album, Fuck That Pretty Boy Shit. I Love People sees rapper Alaska and producer Lang Vo, team up with one of my favourite MCs at the minute, Red Pill. They’ve also thrown in a dope Zilla Rocca remix, with his noir hop style giving a whole new feel to the track. Get yourselves over to Bandcamp to cop the tracks and watch out for the album coming to your ears in the near future.
Words Hurt: Alkast Remixes
This isn’t a new release as such, but it is the first time I have had the pleasure of being introduced to it. Words Hurt is the brainchild of former Hangar 18 rapper Alaska and Austin based produced Lang Vo. They came together in August last year to bring us the excellent Alkast Remixes project, which is the amuse bouche for their debut album, Fuck That Pretty Boy Shit, which is due out in the next few months. As you can tell from the title this isn’t easy listening style and the Alkast project is no different. Continue reading “Words Hurt: Alkast Remixes”
