The usual end of year album rush continues with the latest release from Defcee and knowsthetime. Following on from their Summer Courses EP, which they dropped back in June, the MC-producer duo return with Lacuna – a superbly structured record that begs for repeated listens, as you attempt to unpack Defcee’s richly layered lyricism. At times, Lacuna is a very honest analysis of Defcee’s past, which makes it a compelling listen and, for me personally, very relatable in places. Addiction, grief, loss, love and self-reflection are all brought to the fore, with the Illinois MC seemingly ready to confront his old ghosts. There are a few last minute suggestions emerging for your end of year lists and Lacuna is definitely one of them. It’s available to download now over on Bandcamp and you can also stream it in full below.

You can hear the EP for yourself below and downloads are also available. Continue reading “defprez: Sunday No. 2 (Stream)”
