New heat from the CMPND gang, as they deliver their latest single. Pick A Card features raps from the trio and production from Wundrop, along with a video courtesy of LookAt TV. The track is also available to stream from all the usual spots.
CMPND: The Culprit
New music from CMPND with the release of their latest single, The Culprit. I caught up with Vitamin G the other week and he confirmed that a new album is on the way, so stay tuned for more news on that when I have it. For now though, enjoy this latest banger. The superb video was made by Jenna.lec.
Good to see CMPND back at it, as they drop off their first new single since the release of their debut album, Eagle Court, back in 2019. WEAINTPLAYIN finds the trio still at their grimiest and still as on point as ever, reigniting that same infectious energy with Wundrop on the beat. Knowing High Focus, this will likely be the start of an album rollout, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for more news on that coming soon. The video was directed by Honey JD.
CMPND: U Know We Fly
Nice little revisit to last year’s excellent CMPND album, as they release another video from the project. As with the rest of the album, it’s Wundrop on production and the video was made by Senso. Eagle Court is out now on High Focus.
NuphZed: Fickle Affection (Stream)
This week we were treated to the full release of the NuphZed project; something fans have been clamouring for since his Dreebalicious EP dropped back in early 2017. Fickle Affection is the Brighton artist’s latest venture and finds him as on point as ever lyrically, further buoyed by the production, including some self-produced gems and contributions from Harvs and Allen Keys. There are also five remixes on there, from the likes of Psalm Trees, Illiterate and Bo Bribery. Kemastry and Harvs are also on hand for features on Phidgity and NuphPiggy respectively. The whole thing is available to stream below and you can cop a limited edition vinyl version via Yogocop. Continue reading “NuphZed: Fickle Affection (Stream)”
VooDoo Collective: Reflections + EP Stream
New music from Oxford hip hop fusion outfit, VooDoo Collective, as they finally bring us their debut EP. Despite making music together for years and putting out solo releases as individual artists, this is the first time VooDoo Collective have released a group project. Comprised of Kemastry on mic duties, Gaijin as MC/producer, Alfie Grieve on horns and Maria Laveau on vocals, the EP is a snapshot of their creative experimentation since they first formed, including the title track which was originally recorded a few years ago. The video for that title track can be seen above and the EP itself is available to stream now on Spotify.
If you weren’t already hyped about the debut album from CMPND, then I reckon this latest single will change your mind. E.W.A dropped today and sees the trio going all out over a suitably grimy beat from in-house producer, Wundrop. The levels are raised once again by the accompanying video, thanks to another visually arresting saga from This & That Media. Eagle Court is due for release on 11 October on High Focus.
CMPND ft. Verbz: Paraphrase
Following on from a triumphant set at the High Focus Block Party on Saturday, CMPND bless us with a brand new video as they continue to build the hype for their debut LP. Paraphrase is the third track to emerge since the crew announced their signing to HF and sees the trio reuniting with long-term friend and collaborator, Verbz. The track is produced by Wundrop and the video was made by This & That Media.
CMPND: Flight 370
Yesterday CMPND served up another taster from their forthcoming full-length project, as they continue to build on the much warranted hype. As usual it’s Wundrop on the beat and vocals, as well as more exemplary mic work from Vitamin G and Kemastry. The video was made by This & That Media. You can stream Flight 370 on all the usual platforms.
High Focus’s latest signing kick off their residency with a brand new video for Whatuplayin@. If you don’t know, CMPND consists of MCs Kemastry, Vitamin G and Wundrop, who also handles production. Whatuplayin@ is a grimy little intro to the crew and a good indicator of things to come. The video was made by This & That Media.
