Another stunner from the forthcoming Telemachus album, as he treats us to the second single, Greed. The production is like a jazzy dreamscape, sparse but refined, and with the added beauty of Jerome Thomas’s vocals gliding effortlessly through it. The video was made by This & That Media. Boring & Weird Historical Music is out on 22 May.

Strange U ft. Lee Scott: Bullet Proof Mustache
Last week Strange U announced that they had signed to High Focus and yesterday saw the release of their first single from their new found home. Bullet Proof Mustache features Blah’s main man Lee Scott, backed up by some 8-bit style rap hands in the video. There is a new album due out soon called #LP4080, so watch out for more news on that. In the meantime, the single is available to buy here.
High Focus Bristol Roadblock: Review
A couple of weeks ago the High Focus squad rolled into Bristol en masse, for what looked set to be a day of good vibes, good people and good BBQ. Taking over the legendary Lakota club for a seven hour rampage, the bill boasted a weighty line-up including Dabbla, Ocean Wisdom, Fliptrix and Dirty Dike.
Dabbla: Super Happy
Arguably one of the most positive MCs in the UK, has dropped a video for the equally positive energy anthem, Super Happy, produced by Tom Caruana. This is the latest offering from Dabbla’s forthcoming Year of the Monkey LP and is the perfect antidote for this damp weekend. Year of the Monkey is out on 9 September on High Focus and you can pre-order here.
Onoe Caponoe: Side Effects Of Star Controlling
Onoe Caponoe has to be one of the most original artists doing their thing on the UK scene right now. He’s about to drop his latest album, Spells From The Cyclops, following on from the success of last year’s Voices From Planet Cattele LP. Check out the latest video from the project, Side Effects Of Star Controlling, which is produced by that most prolific of producers, Sumgii and stay tuned for my album review coming very soon.
Onoe Caponoe: Goose Gurl (prod. by Sumgii)
Brilliantly weird rap sounds from Onoe Caponoe, as he teams up with Sumgii to bring us Goose Gurl.
Ocean Wisdom: Chaos 93
When 22 year old Brighton MC, Ocean Wisdom burst into our lives back in July 2014 with his track, Walking, I don’t think many of us realised just how much he was going to blow up. It was obvious he had skill on the mic. Just the ease with which he switches up his flow left a lot of rappers, with years of experience, in the shade. But it is a rarity these days for an unsigned rapper, especially from the UK, to clock over a million views on his debut video. Continue reading “Ocean Wisdom: Chaos 93”
Ocean Wisdom: One Take
More fire from High Focus’ latest signing Ocean Wisdom, as he gears up to release his debut album Chaos ’93. The album is produced in its entirety by Dirty Dike and is available to pre-order now. The video was made by Video by Cillian Farrell & Tom Holborn. Album review coming soon.
Dead Players: Oh Well
No video this time, but check out the audio for the opening track on the latest Dead Players album. Oh Well is the perfect set up for what was easily my favourite UK rap album of last year, with Dabbla and Baxter both smashing any previous conceptions of how to flow.
Ocean Wisdom: Snakes & Blaggers
Another serving of excellence from Ocean Wisdom, as he releases the next track from his highly anticipated album Chaos ’93, which drops on High Focus next month. Dirty Dike is on the boards for this track and the whole album, so looks set to be a heavy hitter. Stay tuned for more news soon.
