As I reported at the end of last month, a new Sean Price album was looming thanks to a collaboration with Philly producer, Small Professor. 86 Witness arrived in full on Friday and serves as a worthy addition to P’s weighty back catalogue. As alluded to in the title, the album is a homage to 1986 so expect a lot of timely references in the track names and beyond. Unlike some posthumous projects, 86 Witness has a really solid flow to it and is devoid of the clunky sound that plagues other releases made in a similar fashion. ’86 Witness is the long-awaited collaboration between the late great, Sean Price and Career Crooks producer, Small Professor. According to Duck Down the album has been years in the making, but now we are finally reaching the release date and if the first leak is anything to go by, we are in for a treat. John Gotti features a blistering list of MCs, as P is joined by AG Da Coroner, Guilty Simpson and Your Old Droog, accompanied by a suitably rugged beat from Small Pro. The rest of the album boasts a similar array of talented guests, including Zilla Rocca, Quelle Chris and ELUCID. Pre-orders for ’86 Witness are available now and you can stream John Gotti below. Happy to see the full release of the latest Guilty Simpson project, as the Detroit legend joins forces with Queens-based producer, Reckonize Real. The EP manages to pack a lot of dope into its five full-length tracks, including features from Georgia Anne Muldrow, M-Dot, Mayhem, Chuuwee and Deff Cutz. Guilty is on fine form, as to be expected and he’s found a good ally in Reckonize Real’s production. Carved From Stone can be streamed below and downloads/physicals are available via Real Deff Music Group. Continue reading “Reckonize Real & Guilty Simpson: Carved From Stone (Stream)”

A little while back, news broke of an upcoming collaboration between MED and Guilty Simpson. At the time those words were all he had, but last week saw the release of the first track from the project. Face Down is produced by Black Milk and features the sort of rugged approach you would expect from the two MCs. Loyalty is due out on 16 March, with pre-orders available now. New project looming from MED & Guilty Simpson as they join forces for the Loyalty EP. The pair first united on J Dilla’s Jungle Love back in 2006 and after a few more collaborations along the way, they have now decided to bring forth a full project. Production will be handled by Black Milk, MNDSGN, Exile and Preme, with guest spots from Blu, J Mitchell and Joyce Wrice. No tracks have been released yet, but you can pre-order the EP now over on Bandcamp.
Conway and Guilty on the same track became a reality this week, when Big Ghost dropped his latest collaboration with The Machine and provided the perfect antidote for anyone still in trauma after the BET Cyphers. Continue reading “Conway X Guilty Simpson: Vega Bros.”
Yet another weighty run of remixes from Zilla Rocca, as he lends his trademark noir sound to tracks from Small Pro, Guilty Simpson, Castle and B. Dolan, to name a few. Continue reading “Zilla Rocca: Anything I Touch I Bruise Vol. 2”
New video from Phat Kat & Casual, in their combined form Ron Jon Bovi. This time they’ve brought in Detroit’s finest Guilty Simpson to drop a guest verse. Good shit all round.
