Another solid release from Ric Branson (fka Ricochet), as he delivers his new album, The Technician. Building on the foundations he laid back in the early 00’s alongside Ultra and A.H.Fly, the UK veteran displays all the signs of a still hungry MC across these 16 tracks.
He’s in good company too, as he’s joined on the album by Melanin 9, Ray Vendetta, Cons and Tesla’s Ghost, plus some tight production contributions from A.H.Fly, Evil Ed, Cons, Juice and Giallo Point. Also keep an ear out for the follow up to Ric’s classic cut from back in the day, Mad Runningz. The Technician is available to stream below and you can find downloads over on Bandcamp. To celebrate the 15th anniversary of Jay Z’s The Black Album, Big Ghost Ltd. has revisited the monumental project to add some fresh perspective. Ol’ Volcano Hands himself says that the remixes aimed to create a version of the album “where A-List celebrity producers played no part…n it was no politics involved nahmean. No hype or pitches to the artist from whoever whoever… Just the feel of that early 00s shit when the R.O.C. had established itself as the pinnacle n the heartbeat of the culture n the greatest rapper of all time pump faked his retirement”. If that sounds like a winning formula, that’s cos it is, as Ghost manages to pull off a successful venture into what maybe considered hallowed turf. Cuts on the album come from Giallo Point and DJ Grouch. You can stream The Black Album Revisited below, with downloads available via Bandcamp. Solid follow up to last year’s triumphant collaboration between New York MC, SmooVth and Crate Divizion producer, Giallo Point. Medellin II boasts all the same qualities as its predecessor, with both Giallo and SmooVth on their respective A-games. The features are in abundance too, with the likes of Estee Nack, Hus Kingpin, Roc Marci and CRIMEAPPLE assisting SmooVth with his obliteration of Giallo’s rugged production. You can stream the full project below, with downloads available via FXCK RXP. Continue reading “SmooVth & Giallo Point: Medellin II – Don Fabio (Stream)”
Still buoyed off the success of his debut EP last year, C.A.M hits us with a new track and video, Soliloquy to the Self. For this one he links up with #TheWinners own Giallo Point and the result is a laid-back affair, with a lyrical emphasis on self-reflection. The video was made by This & That Media and the cuts were done by Jabba tha Kut
It was only the other day that I posted the new mixtape from Ray Vendetta, with a portent that he and Giallo Point had an album on the way. Now I am able to bring you the first track from the album, Laugh Loud Laugh Last.
If this is setting the standard, then Sins of the Son looks set to be another success for the two artists, who have accrued a lot of much deserved acclaim this year already. You can stream the track below, with pre-orders available over on Bandcamp. The release date is scheduled for 20 December. Continue reading “Ray Vendetta & Giallo Point: Laugh Loud Laugh Last”
Giallo Point’s recent album with Smoovth featured a whole host of guest spots, including Hus Kingpin, Vinnie Paz and our very own rap mogul, SonnyJim. Now Sonny is back with a fresh collab with #TheWinners producer, in the form of Winter Wear. Giallo on the beat, Sonny on the bars and Deejay Random on the cuts. You cans stream the track below. The end of last month saw the release of a great project from The Winners collective, as Smoovth and Giallo Point dropped their Medellin album. As the name suggests, there are heavy South American influences throughout the album, as well as enough references to make this a suitable soundtrack for Narcos. There are a ton of guest spots, including notable appearances by Vinnie Paz, Planet Asia and SonnyJim. The album is available to stream below, with vinyl and digi downloads available here.
