I love it when projects get released without any real prior warning. Take the third instalment of the exquisite Lice series, which Aesop Rock and Homeboy Sandman have been treating us to for the last couple of years. Friday saw its arrival without much hype building, except for an IG post from Aesop Rock, which pictured him and Sand with the caption “What are you doing Friday? #3”. Read the rest of this entry »

Nice gift from Public Enemy to commemorate their 30 years in the game. Last week Chuck D tweeted that the group were releasing a free album, as a thank you to the fans who have supported them throughout the years. Nothing Is Quick In The Desert is 13 tracks deep and shows the group have lost little of their ferocity since their debut, Yo! Bum Rush The Show, way back in 1987. You can stream the album below, with downloads available here. Read the rest of this entry »

Another quality joint from the combined minds of IT – aka Cryptic One and Alaska – as they bring us Famous Names for $1000. New dope from The Odd Couple – aka Ray Vendetta and Tesla’s Ghost – as they drop their long awaited collaborative project. This Thing of Ours is itself a prelude to a full length LP, which is scheduled for release in 2018. They’ve drafted in Wu affiliate Falling Down to handle the production on both releases and you can hear why right from the opening track. The project weighs in at 10 tracks with both MCs bringing their A-game to the mic. You can stream This Thing of Ours below and there are free downloads available on Bandcamp. Great new project from Rum Committee, as Captain Bukioe and KD release their Feast or Famine EP. KD’s beats are as on point as ever, serving as the perfect backing for Bukioe to tear through and complimented by some nice guitar work from Eric Turner and Henry Clark. Bukioe is also Rum Com’s resident artist and is the man responsible for the dope cover art. You can stream the EP below and it is also available for free download from the Rum Com Bandcamp. biskkkk

New material from the ever prolific Bisk, as he joins up with Jack Danz for the Cartunes & Serial EP. Danz provides some of his standard grittiness for Bisk to do his thing on and it’s all crammed into one 10 minute long mini mix, featuring fellow Blah cult member King Grubb. You can grab a free download now over on Bandcamp. Read the rest of this entry »

jambo

Short but sweet bonus track from Jam Baxter and Chemo, that didn’t make the cut for …So We Ate Them Whole in 2013. Something to savour while we wait for the follow-up. It’s on a free download too, just follow the link on the player below and click ‘buy’. Bonus: the album title for Freshly Skeletal was taken from a bar in the first verse.
