L.A. son and Living Legend, Eligh, has returned with a new album, something like his 19th solo project since he first dropped As They Pass back in 1996. Last House on the Block delivers 18 tracks, with some typically strong features from the likes of R.A. The Rugged Man, The Grouch, Zion I and Evidence, who is also responsible for the excellent cover photo. Of the title, Eligh said on Twitter that it is “a metaphor used in the rooms of recovery for as long as I’ve been clean, also a metaphor used by me to describe this planet, and us as residents”.
You can watch the latest video from the album below, for Pain on the Break featuring The Grouch and you can also stream the album. Last House on the Block is out now on EMPIRE. Continue reading “Eligh: Last House on the Block (Stream)”
Evidence flexes his ample production muscle on this new track with Griselda son, Westside Gunn. You can stream the aptly titled Evidence Joint below. Continue reading “Westside Gunn: Evidence Joint”
Another stunning video from Evidence and his recent Weather or Not album. This time he clears the streets of LA for Bad Publicity, resulting in some eerily powerful shots and scenes. It also seems to give more impact to his verses, which are some of the best from the album in my opinion. Evidence is joined by Krondon, who drops in on the hook and the production comes from Nottz, with DJ Revolution on the cuts. The video was directed by Todd Angkasuwan. Weather or Not is out now on Rhymesayers.
Evidence has released the next video from his extremely well received Weather or Not album and it’s by far the most visually arresting one yet. It’s for the Alchemist produced, Powder Cocaine and features fellow Rhymesayers legend, Slug.
And for anyone thinking this is some sort of ode to cocaine, Evidence recently said he was about the only person in LA who’s never tried the drug and that he chose the name as a metaphor for something finely textured. Weather or Not is out now on the usual platforms and in the interest of self-promotion, you can read my recent interview with the man himself over on Grown Up Rap.
Unless you’ve been hibernating, you’re probably aware that Evidence recently released his third solo album, Weather or Not.
Serving as the final chapter in his Weatherman series, alongside its predecessors – The Weatherman LP and Cats & Dogs – the album was always set to be strong, but now it’s actually dropped we can appreciate just how strong it really is. The LA MC has not held back on any aspect of the album, from the production credits, to the guest spots and even the overall aesthetic (courtesy of friend and photographer, Stephen Vanasco), everything is on point. The mighty Step Brothers album, from Alchemist and Evidence, turned four years old yesterday and so to celebrate, the good people at Rhymesayers unearthed a never before heard track from the duo. Lay Some Treats On Us was recorded at the same time as the LP, but never made the original cut. Now you can hear the Alchemist produced track in all its glory and you can even download yourself a copy from all the usual spots.
New video from Likwit Crew vet, Defari. Take Me Away is lifted from last year’s Rare Poise album, which is produced in its entirety by long-term friend and collaborator, Evidence. The album is due for physical release on both CD and vinyl, on 13 April, via Fat Beats.
Evidence follows up his 2011 collaboration with DJ Premier, with the latest track to be lifted from his forthcoming Weather or Not LP. 10,000 Hours is the third single from the album and the video was directed by Evidence’s frequent collaborator, Stephen Vanasco. The album is due for release on 26 January on Rhymesayers. Pre-orders are available here.
Evidence is bringing us his new solo album at the start of next year and to give us a little sample of his wares, he has released another new video from the project. Jim Dean sees the LA MC collaborating with Jason Goldwatch again, who is the man responsible for the first ever Dilated video and for Ev’s first solo video too. The track was produced by Nottz. Weather or Not is due out on Rhymesayers on 26 January and pre-orders are available here.
You can always rely on Evidence to bring his best raps to the table, as he demonstrates in his brand new video which was released yesterday. Throw It All Away sees the LA MC link up with his Step Brother, Alchemist, who creates his usual brand of audible gold for Ev to get busy on. There is a new album due some time later in the year on RSE, but for now you can buy the new single here.
