Brand new video from Lee Scott and Jam Baxter, as they kick of the official release of their album, Happy Hour At The Super Fun Time Party Dome Megamix 4000. When Lee first sent me the LP a few months ago, he did so with the warning that it was weird. I like weird, was my reply. And while it might not be your run of the mill rap album, it definitely remains on the right side of weird, complete with drunk style crooning from Lee. It features production from loads of great names, including Sumgii, Drae Da Skimask, GhostTown, Dirty Dike and Jack Jetson, plus there are guest spots from the likes of Jetson, Stinkin Slumrok, Milkavelli, Trellion and Lyza Jane. The whole thing can be heard below and you can see the video for the Dike produced, Who’s Ur M8, above. It was made by Slim Parisoo. Vinyl copies of the album are available over at the Blah store. Fresh music from Blah’s Canadian connect, as Danny Lover releases the first video from his latest album. Mr Cool is a classic example of Danny’s laid-back lyricism and flow, with Morriarchi’s sparse, stripped down production giving it the ideal backdrop. The album, Live From The UK, was made while Danny was visiting his label mates back in 2016. Continue reading “Danny Lover: Mr. Cool + Album Stream”
One of my favourite voices in UK rap returns with the ultra wavy Young + Cool, produced by Drae Da Skimask. Bang On! has always been one of a select number of rappers in this country who never take themselves too seriously, but still make a fucking banger. That’s a good balance in my eyes. We should be hearing more new music from the man soon, so keep your ears peeled, kidda.
Nice release from CLBRKS here, which came out a couple of months ago. Peugeot Music Vol. 1 is a wavy, glitchy, head nodding, lo-fi trip, with CLBRKS distinctive flows finding suitable resting places on beats from the likes of Drae Da Skimask, Tides, Tusken and ATLS. I’m always a big fan of rappers who cans still kill a track without ever taking themselves too seriously. Peugeot Music Vol. 1 is available to stream below, or you can download it over on the Soultapes Bandcamp. Continue reading “CLBRKS: Peugeot Music Vol. 1”
More dope from Bisk, who is up there with the most prolific MCs of the era thanks to the slew of projects he’s released over the past year or so. XXXX features his trademark raw drawl, with some nice production credits from the likes Drae Da Skimask, Broom Man, Sam Zircon and Bisk himself. The full project is available to stream below and you can download it over on Bandcamp. Continue reading “Bisk: XXXX”
Astral Back affiliate Drae Da Skimask released his new Ficante EP last week and yesterday saw the premiere of the second cut, over on Complex UK. There’s No1 We Can Blame is a blissed out soulful riot, which will make you feel like summer is already upon us. You can stream the track below and the EP is available to download now over on the Astral Black Bandcamp. Continue reading “Drae Da Skimask: There’s No1 We Can Blame”
Drae Da Skimask has a new EP on the way and yesterday we got a little sample of what to expect from it. Why U Mad is one of six tracks that will feature on the project, which is billed as “an unpredictable, high-tempo experiment from the young London producer”. The Ficante EP is out on 10 February on Astral Black and there is an LP following later in the year. You can stream Why U Mad below. Continue reading “Drae Da Skimask: Why U Mad”
Dope little release from Twisted Pennys aka Teeps. The Leicester MC put together eight tracks with a loose Halloween theme running throughout. It features beats from the likes of Sam Zircon, Drae Da Skimask and Two-Can. You can stream the full release below. Continue reading “Twisted Pennys: Those That Reap”
Yet another video from the Ape Tape project that Black Josh released recently. This time it’s Yung Ratchet, which was produced by Drae Da Skimask. The Ape Tape is available to buy here.
