Another gem from the recently released double LP from DJ Shadow, as he reunites with tag team lyricists, Run The Jewels. This is their second collaboration, following on from 2016’s Nobody Speak, but with this latest track taking on a whole different vibe to its predecessor. It’s worth noting that El-P’s verse about a dog leaping off a building after discovering his owner’s body, is based on the real-life and death events of El’s grandma, which makes it all the more poignant. The track is taken from Our Pathetic Age, which is out now on Mass Appeal Records. The lyric video was made by Adam Dunn aka Evil Ice Cream Pictures. Continue reading “DJ Shadow ft. A new video landed today for the previously released De La Soul assisted track, which features on DJ Shadow’s latest album. The audio for Rocket Fuel first surfaced three months ago when the album was announced and served as the first single. The video features an alternative version of the faked moon landing theory, complete with a Stanley Kubrick lookalike and fighting astronauts. Shadow’s new album, Our Pathetic Age, is due for release tomorrow on Mass Appeal.
The hype continues to build for DJ Shadow’s ambitious new album, as he unveils his latest single. Urgent, Important, Please Read sees the Endtroducing producer enlisting the help of three MCs who are perhaps relatively unknown in the UK. Rockwell Knuckles and Tef Poe both hail from St Louis, with the latter gaining more notoriety for his work during the Ferguson protests. There is also an appearance from Daemon, who recently garnered praise for his 2018 track Fame, which featured on Power. Shadow’s album, Our Pathetic Age, is due for release on 15 November via Mass Appeal.
There is now a video for the new track from DJ Shadow and Nas; a collaboration that seems long overdue. Systematic was made as part of the soundtrack for Mike Judge’s latest comedy show, Silicon Valley. You can download the track here.
The audio for this track has been doing the rounds for a while now, but earlier today Mass Appeal revealed the new video and it’s a cracker. Featuring old white dudes lip-syncing, a mass brawl and even a piglet, plus appearances from the trio themselves, this is the perfect visual accompaniment for an already excellent track. DJ Shadow’s latest album, The Mountain Will Fall, is out now.
One of the more formidable collaborations to happen this year is the Run the Jewels feature on the forthcoming DJ Shadow album. I can’t think of any time in the past that these two worlds have met – except maybe the Latyrx and El-P joint – but as soon as you hear them together, you wonder why its taken so long.
