Today is also release day for the debut solo LP from Harvs Le Toad. The Yogocop MC has rounded up a strong selection of players to help make Chicks & Tikka Naans a powerful touch paper for the flames that are likely to follow in his career. Production comes from the likes of Benaddict, Mr Slipz and Saulthesame, plus there are some nice features from Dirty Dike, Benaddict, Salmon Hands and CW Jones. The album is available to stream below and you can grab physicals/downloads over on Bandcamp. Continue reading “Harvs Le Toad: Chicks & Tikka Naans (Stream)”
Absolute beast of a video from Dirty Dike as he celebrates the release of his latest album. Rex 01 features a whole lot of talented cats, as the Dikestar calls up Inja, Killa P and Foreign Beggars to get busy over a DnB tinted banger from Pete Cannon. It’s one of many gems to be found on Acrylic Snail, Dike’s first proper release in three years and probably my favourite album of his (I’m calling it already). You can experience the album in all its glory below and you can grab a physical over at the High Focus store. Continue reading “Dirty Dike ft. Inja, Killa P & Foreign Beggars: Rex 01 + Album Stream”
Fresh out today is the next single from the upcoming Dirty Dike LP, Acrylic Snail. Caustic Soda features production from Chemo, alongside a visually arresting video from This & That Media. The album is due out next month on High Focus.
Dirty Dike returns a new single, this time teaming up with your favourite cult leader, Lee Scott. The two trade verses over a differently rugged beat from Pete Cannon and the whole thing is wrapped up nicely with a slick video from AboveGround – a video which details what would probably be classed as a crazy night out for your average person, but for these two I’m pretty sure it’s the standard. You can stream/download Woah here and stay tuned for the new album, Acrylic Snail, dropping soon on High Focus.
It’s been a long time coming, but yesterday we were finally treated to the full release of the new album from UK favourite, Dabbla. Any regular visitors to my blog will know that I have been championing the album since its coming was announced some months ago. And with good reason because the whole project is a treat for the ears, packed with a standard of lyricism and production high enough to bring the devil himself to tears.
There are plenty of stellar features too from the likes of Rag’N’Bone Man, Eva Lazarus, Illaman, LDZ and Jam Baxter, but the main star is Dabbla who seems to be at his hungriest yet on Death Moves; quite a feat for an MC who has been giving his all to every release since his debut with LDZ.
You can stream the full album below and there is also a brand new video for the title track, produced by Dirty Dike, Pete Cannon and GhostTown. The video itself was made by Obese Aesthetics – the dons behind the hugely successful Psychoville video, from Dabbla’s previous album. You can grab digital/physical copies of the album over at the Potent Funk store. Continue reading “Dabbla: Death Moves (Album Stream & Video)”
Absolutely blinding return to the fore from Dirty Dike, as he drops his latest single, Permanent Midnight. Featuring some killer production from Chemo and an infectious hook from his old Contact Play sparring partner, Jam Baxter, the semi-autobiographical track focuses on the problematic journey of a young boy through his teenage years and beyond. The single is being released on a limited edition vinyl run, complete with a B-side featuring Lee Scott with production from Pete Cannon. More details available over at the High Focus store.
A welcome return for one of Brighton’s finest, as Gi3MO releases his new mixtape, Big Gizzy Is Boss. The project is a selection of previously unreleased tracks from the Rum Com MC, including some absolutely golden features from the likes of Tony D, Micall Parknsun, Inja and Dirty Dike. There are of course appearances from his Boozetown family too, with Ceezlin, Hatter, Dan Dastard and Rag’N’Bone Man all dropping gems. The project was put together by Giz and DJ Choice. It is available to stream below and you can grab a download over on the Rum Com Bandcamp page. Continue reading “Gi3MO: Big Gizzy Is Boss (Stream)”
Next month Bristol welcomes back High Focus Records for their infamous Summer Block Party. Held in the courtyard of legendary venue, Lakota, for the past few years the event has proven to be a huge success and judging by the summer we are currently experiencing, we could see it reach it new heights this time round. Continue reading “High Focus Block Party: Competition”
Next month Bristol once again plays host to one of High Focus Record’s legendary parties. In the past the city has given a stage to their summer roadblocks and winter parties, but this time they will be one of two cities taking part in the label’s 8th birthday celebrations. Stepping away from their usual haunt of Lakota for this one, HF are headed to SWX in the centre of town. This means more room, better acoustics and a better sound system, which equals a better night for all involved. Continue reading “High Focus 8th Birthday Party: Competition Time”
