I somehow let this one slip through the gaps last month, but better late than never and it definitely hasn’t lost any of its appeal in the interim. Wish Master continues to position himself as one of the most prolific and consistent MCs of his generation, with another strong collaboration, this time alongside the equally prolific, Illinformed. Coldharbour Tales is a distinctly Bristolian album, from the title itself to the guest stars that Wish and Illinformed have enlisted for the event. Features from the likes of Axel Holy, Upfront, Datkid, Eric the Red and Flying Monk, keep the Bristol flag flying, as well as appearances from Verb T and Gee Bag, which push beyond the city walls. You can experience a taste of the album for yourself below, then head to Bandcamp for all your digital and physical needs.Continue reading “Wish Master x Illinformed: Coldharbour Tales (Stream)”
More music from Baileys Brown and this time a reunion of sorts, as he joins forces with Datkid once again for a new EP. Grubby Mits follows in the footsteps of joints like Teeth Ledger and the pivotal, Home By 8, which was the release that first brought Datkid to the attention of many UK rap fans. On this new EP, the duo are joined by some familiar names, including Datty’s SP affiliate, Flying Monk, who drops in on Better Than The Rest, alongside fellow Bristol rap advocate, Draper. There is also a Blah link up courtesy of Stinkin Slumrok, on the closing track, Yeah Right. You can hear the EP in full for yourself below, with downloads available via Bandcamp.Continue reading “Datkid x Baileys Brown: Grubby Mits (Stream)”
The crud is thick on this new release from Datkid, which sees him teaming up with Illinformed for a double whammy of unadulterated street stories. The mini-movie that accompanies the tracks was made by Honey JD. Fat Lip and One Way or Another are both available now via High Focus.
The long-awaited collaboration from Datkid and Skinzmann was finally given life this week. Sleepless in Pinhoe is the perfect partnership, with Datty’s mettlesome and often brutally honest lyricism, sitting comfortably atop Skinzmann’s suitably rowdy production. Features come from the usual suspects, including Axel Holy, Wish Master and Wyatt Earp. You can catch a preview below and then head to the Split Prophets Bandcamp to cop a download. Stay tuned for more from Datkid coming soon.Continue reading “Datkid & Skinzmann: Sleepless in Pinhoe (Stream)”
Surprise new EP from Jam Baxter, as he continues to celebrate the success of his recent publishing debut. Off Piste features four tracks from the Contact Play MC, on which he is joined by Lee Scott and Datkid. Production comes courtesy of Dirty Dike, Chemo X Last Japan, Zygote and Lenkemz. The EP is ready to stream in full below and downloads are available from Bandcamp. Continue reading “Jam Baxter: Off Piste (Stream)”
More bilingual, intercontinental raps from Habitus, as the Bristol-based MC and producer teases us with another track from his forthcoming album. On K-Rhyme, Habitus has drafted in Split Prophets members, Datkid and Bil Next, as well as Greek rhyme master, Sadomas. The video is made by Sektion Red.
This Saturday, the fair city of Brighton once more becomes the epicentre for UK hip hop, as the High Focus gang descend on Concorde 2 for another monumental party.
To coincide with the release of the Breaking Bad film sequel, El Camino, Strange Neighbour is dropping a remix version of his 2014 Heisenberg EP. It looks set to be a strong selection judging by the first leak – a reworking of the Let’s Fly posse cut, from the legendary Chemo. The track features a great line-up, with Bristol sons Datkid and Sirplus, joining forces with Jack Diggs and Oliver Sudden, all backed up with some expert cuts from Sammy B-Side. The full project is due for release at the end of the month on Revorg Records.
If you caught the recent Skinzmann project then you will probably already be familiar with this grimy banger, featuring one of Bristol’s finest, Datkid. And today the video for Get Out was unveiled, which only adds to its impact. The video was made by Parallel Media and the track can be found on Incognito Grinders.
Following on from my recent post, where I threw the spotlight on the new video from Skinzmann and Wyatt Earp, you can now hear what the rest of the project is offering. Helmed and curated by Skinzmann, Incognito Grinders sees the Exeter beat maker selecting a host of talent from the UK rap pool, as he brings to life collaborations with the likes of Datkid, Shifty, Obadiah and Lukuss, as well as more features from Wyatt Earp. The tape is available to download now over on Bandcamp and you can stream it in full below. Continue reading “Skinzmann: Incognito Grinders (Stream)”
