Children Of Zeus: Travel Light

It’s been a long time coming, but we are now into the final few weeks before the arrival of the debut album from Children of Zeus. “Highly anticipated” doesn’t even cut it. Yesterday saw the unveiling of the artwork, the tracklist and the chance to pre-order what is undoubtedly going to be one of the most popular releases of the year.
It’s also a release that is going to be the much deserved payoff for the many years that both Konny and Tyler have dedicated to their respective fields, so much so that their fans are as happy as their own kinfolk to see the duo getting so much shine.
Travel Light promises to deliver more of the street soul flavour that has proved so popular since Children of Zeus first formed, as well as some reggae and jazz cuts thrown into the mix. There are features too from LayFullStop, [KSR], DRS and Terri Walker, plus production from Sebb Bash, Juga-Naut and Beat Butcha. The album is available to pre-order now on all formats and you can stream a couple of the tracks below. The official release date is set for 13 July on First Word Records. Children of Zeus: Slow Down/All Night

Children of Zeus recently announced the release of some new music, acting as a sort of bridge across to the day their long-awaited album comes out. Slow Down is the first single from the album, while All Night serves as a bonus for those fans who have been dying for new material from the Manchester duo. Now both tracks have been released in video form too, thanks to the visual handiwork of Karl John. Continue reading “Children of Zeus: Slow Down/All Night”

Children Of Zeus: Slow Down / All Night

Happy to be able to post some new music from street soul renaissance champions, Children of Zeus. Their anthology, The Story So Far, has been satisfying fans old and new for the past six months, as well as accumulating cosigns from the likes of Jazzy Jeff, DJ Spinna and Stormzy. But the baying masses are also eager for new material – namely their long-awaited debut album. Continue reading “Children Of Zeus: Slow Down / All Night”

Children Of Zeus: This Christmas

Tis the season for gift giving so Manchester favourites, Children of Zeus, have delivered an unexpected present for our listening pleasure. This Christmas sees Konny use the Donny Hathaway song of the same name to lay the foundation for Tyler to do what he does best. There are also additional vocals from Tyler’s daughter, Aaliyah Rae. The track is available to stream below. Continue reading “Children Of Zeus: This Christmas”

Children Of Zeus: Smoke with Me

Last week I told you about the latest release from Children of Zeus – The Story So Far EP – and now we’ve got a new video to go with it. Smoke With Me is one of the new gems that can be found amongst their already established hits like Crown and Still Standing, and it propels them further to the top of a game they already dominate, without even releasing an album yet. The video was shot by Tarnish Vision. The Story So Far is available to order here.

Children Of Zeus: Tonight

The long-awaited album from street soul duo Children of Zeus is still some way off, but to satisfy the fans like me who have been fiendin’ off the singles that have emerged over the past couple of years, Konny and Tyler have compiled The Story So Far.
The EP features all your favourites – Crown, Still Standing, No Strings Attached – along with some dusty new flavours, like Tonight, which is available to stream below. Pre-orders for the EP are available here. Continue reading “Children Of Zeus: Tonight”

Children of Zeus: Interview

Children of Zeus – aka Tyler Daley and Konny Kon – have spent the last couple of years releasing a smooth blend of rap and soul. In the process they have scored a whole new batch of fans, plenty of critical acclaim and some crazy live shows – including a set in the infamous Boiler Room. I got the chance to speak with both Tyler and Konny about why they started making music together, their influences and the possibility of hearing a full album from them. Continue reading “Children of Zeus: Interview”

Children Of Zeus: I Can’t Wait

Children of Zeus blessed us with a new single this week, a track they first performed at the Boiler Room last year. It’s now been polished up and is going to be available on a limited vinyl run on First Word Records. The flip-side will be a different vibe, as the BPM raises on Don’t Say a Word. The release is scheduled for 7 April, with pre-orders available here. You can stream I Can’t Wait below. Continue reading “Children Of Zeus: I Can’t Wait”

Children of Zeus: Crown

Children of Zeus hit us with a new video yesterday and it’s a beauty. Taken from the First Word Records compilation Two Syllables Vol. 13, Crown features some relaxed bars from both Tyler and Konny, over a laid back, soul laced beat. There are also a load of cameos from some of Manchester’s musical royalty, so watch out for them. You can download the track for just £1 here.

Children of Zeus: Sunsets & Soulfood Mix

zeuskids

Children of Zeus have been added to this year’s Soundwave line-up in Croatia and to celebrate that fact, they have put together a mix which is pretty much guaranteed to kill any trace of your winter blues. The 50 minute mix features a nice selection of cuts from the likes of Anderson .Paak, BJ the Chicago Kid and Joyce Wrice, as well as Konny & Tyler themselves. You can stream it below and I’ve included the tracklist for easy reference. Enjoy. Continue reading “Children of Zeus: Sunsets & Soulfood Mix”
