Career Crooks: Never at Peace (Stream)

Last month gave rise to a flurry of new releases, including the latest from Career Crooks. Never at Peace marks the end of a superb year for Wrecking Crew, as well as a strong finish for Zilla and Small Pro, who dipped back into the same winning formula that had made their earlier projects so successful. Features come from the likes of ShrapKnel, iAlive and Blueprint, while the release itself was accompanied by a bunch of merch and physical options, including a very limited Mini Disc version. Career Crooks: Benicio Del Toro

Wrecking Crew fans rejoice. Not content with already offering up four of the year’s best, in the form of three solo LPs and a crew compilation, now Zilla Rocca and Small Professor are reuniting for another Career Crooks adventure. Benicio Del Toro is the first track to be unveiled, which you can hear below and then head to Bandcamp to secure your pre-order. The full release is scheduled for 26 November.

Wrecking Crew: Steel’s Kitchen (Stream)

Wrecking Crew assemble in full for their new project, which channels the spirit of the crew and label compilations that came before them. Every aspect of the album is on point, from the production picks and the artists they’re paired with, down to the song titles and artwork. Some stand out moments for me, include the Alaska assisted ShrapKnel track, Broken Handstyle, which features some rousing production from Steel Tipped Dove, and one of two fresh new Career Crooks joints, Looks Easy When it Works, which is further bolstered by Marcus Pinn’s precision cuts. The whole thing is worth your attention though and you can peruse it at your leisure below, with downloads, physicals and merch stacked up over on Bandcamp.

Career Crooks: Crook With A Deal

The Dead End Hip Hop gang recently premiered the brand new video from Career Crooks. It’s for Crook With a Deal, a sort of reworking of 50’s How To Rob, which is lifted from the Philly duo’s recent Thieving As Long As I’m Breathing album. The video captures those classic masked villain, heist style scenes, as Zilla Rocca raps about jacking various indie hip hop acts. The album is out now on URBNET.

Philly duo Zilla Rocca & Small Pro – aka Career Crooks – return with a new musical selection, following on from their 2017 debut, Good Luck With That. Strong lyricism, production and criminality still reign supreme on what is ostensibly a remix album, but with some fresh material also thrown in. There are remixes from the duo themselves, as well as some other gems from Fresh Kils, DJ Manipulator, and Rolled Gold Beats to name a few. Career Crooks: Crook With a Deal

Zilla Rocca and Small Pro are returning with their second album next month, the follow-up to their collaborative debut, Good Luck With That. The Philly duo recently revealed the first instalment from the album, when they dropped the single, Crook With a Deal. You can stream the track below and you can pre-order the album here.
