New music from Helsinki Booze Merchants, as they announce the release of their debut album. While the name might not be familiar in this form, their individual IDs will no doubt be, as the crew is made up of Luca Brazi, Benny Diction and Mnsr Frites, who have worked as solo artists and on plenty of collaborations together over the years. This latest offering is entirely produced by Brazi, as well as two remixes from Chemo and Chuck Enzo chucked in for good measure. You can sample a couple of the tracks below, including that Enzo remix, and then get set for the full release of the album, Film Poster Whips, on 1 August. There is also a Qrates push to get a vinyl edition made, so get involved with that if you can. More info here. Continue reading “Helsinki Booze Merchants: Film Poster Whips”
Nottingham son, Louis Cypher, returns with a great little release on the Boom Bap Professionals label. Yesterday saw the return of Benny Diction and his new Oak Dreams EP. Once again teaming up with Australian producer, Able8, for what is now their third project, the duo deliver six fresh cuts which were first given life when Benny visited Able in his homeland. The Australian influence is noticeable throughout, including a feature from Perth MC, Mathas. There is also another guest spot from Benny’s fellow Scran Cartel member, MNSR Frites. You can stream Oak Dreams below, with other streaming and downloads available via Millennium Jazz Music. Continue reading “Benny Diction & Able8: Oak Dreams (Stream)”

The long awaited collaboration between BBP’s Ash The Author and Soulful Chemistry’s Krang, made a surprise appearance yesterday. The Two Man Band project features some really nice tracks; from the opening piano-laced Mic Check, to the Benny Diction assisted Main Course, the duo don’t seem to be able to put a foot wrong. There are more features from regular sparring partners, Gatecrasherz’s Gee Bag and Granville Sessions’ Archetype, making the whole EP an unskippable eight tracks of hip hop joy. There is already a video out, which you can see below and the EP is available to buy now from the Boom Bap Professionals Bandcamp page. Continue reading “Ash The Author & Krang: Two Man Band”
More dope from the Corners trio, as they continue to ride the wave of acclaim for their debut LP. Pepper Sauce is produced by Downstroke and the video was made by Marco Vallini. The album is out now on Innit Records.
A great debut from a great group of established MCs, who have come together to form something of a UK supergroup. Beit Nun, Benny Diction and Deeflux have all been familiar names on the scene for years and have made some classic tracks as their own entities, but Corners may be their best work yet, as the combined power of the three creates something a little bit special.
