Pleased to finally be able to share the debut solo LP from Lazy Eyez. The South West MC has been steadily building his rep thanks in part to his work as one half of Pupils of the Clock and now has reached a position where he feels ready to strike out with this solo effort. The title of Coastline To Cityscape is a reference to Lazy’s relocation from his hometown of Truro up to Bristol. It was in Bristol that he met Res One and Badhabitz of Split Prophets fame, before eventually becoming their first signing on Green Brick Records. Pupils of the Clock MC, Lazy Eyez, recently announced his new affiliation with the recently formed Bristol label, Green Brick Records. Own Wave is his first official release on the label and sets the bar pretty high for what’s to follow. The track is produced by fellow label mate, Badhabitz and the video was made by Bucket Hat Jack.
Redundant Ramblings is the new(ish) collaboration between Spitfire and Badhabitz. The duo began work on the project around four years ago, but due to that familiar habit of life getting in the way, it was placed on hold. Until last week where we finally got to see it given life. Confident rhymes and strong production combine nicely to give us seven tracks that definitely warrant your attention. You can stream the EP below and downloads are available over on Bandcamp. Great track from Split Prophets dons Res One and Badhabitz, as they unite with Pupils of the Clock’s own Lazy Eyez for Stay Real. This is the debut track from the newly formed Green Brick Records and it’s the first of many, so definitely going to be keeping an eye on them. The video was made by Sektion Red.
Despite being one of the more prolific producers to emerge from Bristol, Badhabitz had yet to release a beat tape before 2018 made its entrance. The Split Prophets beat-maker has been a staple part of the South West’s scene for years, thanks to his involvement with SP and his earlier escapades with Krate Krusaders, alongside 1 Step. Next month Bristol once again plays host to one of High Focus Record’s legendary parties. In the past the city has given a stage to their summer roadblocks and winter parties, but this time they will be one of two cities taking part in the label’s 8th birthday celebrations. Stepping away from their usual haunt of Lakota for this one, HF are headed to SWX in the centre of town. This means more room, better acoustics and a better sound system, which equals a better night for all involved. Continue reading “High Focus 8th Birthday Party: Competition Time”
