About a month ago I shared a new track from Paten Locke’s latest project, where he had been tasked with providing remixes for the most recent album from The Perceptionists. Now Mello Music Group have released the full thing, which features seven remixes of tracks from Resolution, as well as the previously shared, Bait. You can stream Low Resolution below and downloads are available via MMG. Continue reading “The Perceptionists x Paten Locke: Low Resolution (Stream)”
Paten Locke was recently asked to remix last year’s Resolution album from The Perceptionists. Having produced two tracks on the original album, Locke obviously understands the duo’s sound and so it was a fitting choice for Mello Music Group to bring him on board. The project will feature seven remixes from the album, alongside a brand new Locke produced track, Bait. You can stream it below and pre-orders for Low Resolution are available via Bandcamp. Mr Lif and Akrobatik are back as The Perceptionists, following on from their successful collaboration back in 2005. Yesterday saw the premiere of the latest video over at The Source and it’s another solid track. Hose Down features Syne and it was produced by Synesthetic Nation. The new album is due out on 28 July on Mello Music Group.
It’s been 12 years since Mr Lif and Akrobatik released their Perceptionists album, along with DJ Fakts One. Those years have been stress-laden to say the least, with Lif surviving a very nasty accident on his tour bus and Akrobatik suffering major heart trauma, resulting in emergency open-heart surgery. They both survived to tell the tale though and also make a new album together. Resolution is due out on 28 July on Mello Music Group and you can hear the first track below – Hose Down featuring Syne. Pre-orders are available here. Continue reading “The Perceptionists: Resolution”
Check out the great new video for Strange Technology, which is taken from the equally great new album from L’Orange and Mr Lif. Featuring Akrobatik, Gonjasufi and a crazy crowd of post-apocalyptic cartoon characters, the video was directed by Alex Thompson. You can buy the The Life & Death of Scenery LP now via Mello Music Group.
The good people at Adult Swim and Mello Music Group have combined their powers of generosity and are giving away the new project from L’Orange and Mr Lif for free. Entitled The Death of Scenery, the EP focuses on dystopian visions close enough to reality that you might consider tracking down that bunker you’ve always dreamt of.
L’Orange has a habit of finding a sound that fits the MC he’s working with like a glove, as all good producers should and with Lif he has found an ideal creative partner. Features include Akrobatik, Insight and DJ QBert. The EP is available to stream and download here, with an extended version being released on 14 October which you can pre-order here.
Always excited when L’Orange announces new music and this is definitely no exception. News of a collaboration with fellow Mello Music Group artist Mr Lif emerged yesterday, when the label put out a little trailer which you can watch below. There is also a first leak in the form of Strange Technology, which features Akrobatik and the always enigmatic Gonjasufi. Continue reading “L’Orange & Mr. Lif ft. Akrobatik & Gonjasufi: Strange Technology”
